Description

ACCESSORY REQUIRED FOR FULL FUNCTIONALITY AND TO EXIT DEMO MODE.

Transform your phone or tablet into a Wi-Fi spectrum analyzer (2.4 & 5 GHz) with the WiPry 2500x. This ultra-portable tool is perfect for IT professionals and wireless network technicians.

On the hardware side, the WiPry 2500x is slightly larger than previous versions but still small enough to compare to a quarter. Additional space was added to allow for external charging (4 AAA alkaline batteries). This provides full functionality for newer iOS devices including SSID’s. Highlights include:

- 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz Spectrum Analyzer
- Scan & Troubleshoot WiFi
- SSID's / RSSI
- Cross-platform support (works with any device)

On the software side, significant improvements have been made including:

- Play / Record (helps in capturing intermittent environmental issues)
- Enhanced Reporting Function (birth certificates track Wi-Fi health)
- SNR / SINR automatic calculation (speeds up site evaluation)
- Combined view for the real view and waterfall that gives you a history of the transmissions

One of the benefits of these software improvements is that there is no software subscription charge. Software is free of charge and available through the user's preferred platform.

Although demo mode is available for free with this download, an accessory must be purchased to fully enable the product. Don’t have the accessory? You can still take the app for a test drive. There are several demo wave forms (WiFi, DECT, and DSSS) that simulate signals. Check it out today!

The WiPry family of products has an impressive legacy with the following awards:

- Ranked #1 Value and #1 Most Innovative RF tool by Frost & Sullivan
- Won Ultimate Wireless Product for 2016 as recognized by EETimes & EDN
- 2015 R&D Award Finalist (one of the 100 most technologically advanced innovations)
- ECN Impact Finalists as one of the "best and most innovative in the design engineering world"

As a spectrum analyzer, WiPry 2500x allows you to scan & troubleshoot WiFi. View SSID’s and RSSI on your iOS device. This spectrum analyzer gives you multiple visualization techniques to view the occupied spectrum. Waterfall mode allows you to look at the spectrum over time while the raw, decay, average, heat map, and other modes allow you to view the real-time spectrum. It is perfect for detecting open Wi-Fi channels and identifying unauthorized Wi-Fi access points.

Please note that customers with previous generations of our hardware (such as WiPry 5x, WiPry-Spectrum, WiPry-Power, WiPry-Pro, WiPry-Combo, and WiPry-Pro Combo) will be able to use this app on older iOS devices.

Nice, App delivers minimal data

A complete 2500x with accessories is $700plus USD.
The App (WiPry) shows the signal/spectrum for the 2.4 and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands but then stops short, dead short; not allowing you to measure exact frequencies.
So, even though It has vertical cursors you can move to any signal point in the spectrum, the app will not show the MHz of their respective location within the band; so your left having to guess the location of a signal peak. This shouldn’t be lacking in an App for a $700 spectrum kit.
When you select an SSID it doesn’t give you the frequency or the channel within the respective band nor the width of the channel, i.e. 20, 40, 80MHz. This is a must in any WiFi tool.
It doesn’t provide a Channel Overlay template that you can toggle on or off, thus you can’t show the WiFi owner where the channels are, making this useless to WiFi installers looking for a tool that helps explain the issues to the client.

I will review this App again later, see if the developer updates functionality, until then it’s a 2 star.

Developer Response ,

Appreciate your comments. Some helpful insights for you:

1) 2500x hardware is $649.97
2) you can measure exact frequencies (in MHz) using the cursors. No guessing required.
3) channels are visible (tap plus sign in the top left corner to expose channel guide).
4) also please reach out to use directly at support@oscium.com for some help on using the tool. We'd love for you to get the most out of it.

[ Yes, I have hardware ] Won’t display SSIDs

Yes, I have the WiPri 5X hardware - it shows the spectrum, but as soon as you enable the SSID display, it pops up an error that the device is drawing too much power (on iPhone X), the hardware powers off, and the app crashes.

This is basically useless if it cannot show the SSIDs. Sad panda.

Developer Response ,

We've got a fix and we'll send it to you free of charge!
Please contact us at support@oscium.com and we'll send you "The Doctor". Will give u the SSID love that you long for :)

Bought an older model still in the box

I purchased one of the older 30 pin models then I went out and bought an adaptor which I didn’t really expect to work. So I want to disappointed when it didn’t. Then I ordered an IPhone 4s the last iPhone with 30 pin lightning. Well I can’t download the WiPry app on a phone that old so now I’ve wasted a bunch of money and I still can’t scan the WiFi around my apartment to get an idea of where to place my router to prevent interference. I have 100 Mb/s at the router but I can’t watch any streaming service because of the terrible wireless interference.

Developer Response ,

You have to purchase an official 30pin to lightning adapter. The cheap, knockoff ones won't work. Happy to connect you to that adapter (and it's pretty cheap!). Please contact us at support@oscium.com for that info.
