HOW TO

Rule It All in Clash Royale

Stay competitive with these tower-toppling tips.

Whether you’re helping your team win a Clan War, taking on a limited-time Challenge, or just working your way through the standard Arenas, the unstoppable Clash Royale is overflowing with tactical options. Here are a few strategies that’ve helped us in the heat of battle.

Think tank

“Tanks” like Golem and P.E.K.K.A. are huge, slow-moving but very powerful units that absorb a lot of damage. A common tactic is to drop these behind your tower to give you the longest possible time for Elixir to build up. This means you can add support units to your attack as it moves across the battlefield.

Pair a Golem with an Inferno Dragon and a Mega Minion, for example, and you’ve got a formidable combo. If your opponent fails to counter properly, they’re toast.

Inferno Dragon (left) and Golem (right) are a solid “tank” combo.

Distract

That tank tactic is quite popular, but there’s a way to nullify the threat. Golems will always head toward the nearest building unit, so drop a Tombstone (unlocked from Arena 2) in the middle of the arena and they’ll go for it, buying you more time to take them out. The Inferno Tower (unlockable once you reach Arena 4) is another great lure.

Surprise!

Here’s a quick combo to trip up an opponent: Elite Barbarians (unlockable from Arena 7) and a Hog Rider (Arena 4). You’ll have to wait to build up a maximum 10 Elixir, but it’s often worth it.

If some doomed units have been futilely working on one enemy tower, try dropping both Elite Barbarians and a Hog Rider at the same time in the other lane for a surprise raid. They’re superfast and can take out a tower in seconds if your opponent doesn’t defend against them.

Launch a Hog Rider–Elite Barbarian combo for quick damage.

Get electric

Zap is always part of our battle deck. You can unlock it for just two Elixir once you reach Arena 5, and it eliminates crowds of Skeletons, Goblins, Minions, Bats, Fire Spirits, and other swarm-style enemies. It’s handy as an offensive unit too: If you’re using a tank strategy, it’ll keep your big, powerful units free of swarmers.

Ready, aim, zap! One poke of a finger and these Skeletons are gone.

Copy-paste

If you’re wondering why your clanmate RegalOne is on Arena 12 already, it might be his beautifully balanced deck. So why not just copy it with a couple of taps?

Go into the Social tab and tap on the “i” icon next to your clan’s trophy count. Here, you can tap on any clan member’s name and scroll down to see their battle deck. Tap the symbol in the top right and copy-paste their deck into one of your five deck slots. Easy!
