Mario Kart Tour
Race around the world!
You’ve won a few Cups, unlocked some characters, and earned lots of cool parts. But to get a real edge in Mario Kart Tour, try these advanced techniques.
Speed up
Drifting around corners isn’t just thrilling—it charges your boost counter, which lets you unleash Mini-Turbo (blue sparks), Super Mini-Turbo (orange sparks), or Ultra Mini-Turbo (pink sparks). Ultra Mini-Turbo is the most powerful, but it’s only available in Manual Drift mode. Tap and hold the Drift button, then release when the sparks turn pink for a burst of speed. Just be sure to time it right—you don’t want to turbo into a wall!
There are other ways to gain speed during a race: Nudge your kart right behind a rival to get a Slipstream boost. Or leap over logs and geysers for a nifty Jump Boost when you land.
Play defense
Looking to protect yourself from an opponent’s perfectly timed shell toss? Take cover behind your shells, bananas, and other equipped items.
Because they’re stored behind your kart (or circle it, if you grab a triple), they’ll take the hit—and keep you safe!
Seek shortcuts
If you continue to come in second no matter how fast you drive, try turning off Smart Steering and keeping your eyes peeled for shortcuts hidden throughout the course.
In the Toad Circuit course, for example, there’s a hidden jump on the inside corner, just past the tunnel near the end. Use a mushroom to boost over the sand before jumping. Or on the Yoshi Circuit course, bust down the Piranha Plant sign near the starting line to access the shortcut there. Unleash a speed-boosting mushroom or green shell to break through!
