One of the app’s many filters is 503CW, which is based on the classic Hasselblad 503CW camera. It simulates the colour and texture of Fujifilm and blurs the background to make the foreground subject pop, making it ideal for shooting portraits.

The app development team put in a lot of effort to make this magic possible. They got a hold of models of these cameras, then constantly adjusted the curves and refined the colours on the app’s software to get as close as possible to the tone and style of the photos captured by the physical cameras. To add another level of realism, the team also tried to replicate the look and feel of the original cameras on the app interface.

In addition to recreating classic cameras, Nomo Cam also tries out new looks. For example, the Roma camera was inspired by the black-and-white palette of the film Roma, an 8mm video camera pays homage to the Canon Super 8 and there’s even a chic filter created in collaboration with the fashion brand #FR2.

Just like shooting on real film, you only get one shot at taking the perfect picture. Once you tap the shutter, that’s it – the filter is directly applied and you won’t be able to try a different filter or save the original, unfiltered photo.
