In a year that brought a surge of people ready to face unprecedented challenges, ShareTheMeal made it easy to be part of a solution.

Created in partnership with the Nobel Peace Prize–winning United Nations World Food Programme, the app is a simple and effective way to donate meals to the hundreds of millions of people around the world facing food insecurity—particularly those most impacted by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It makes giving as simple as a few taps. And its numbers speak for themselves: As of November, 3.7 million mobile users had donated more than 87 million meals.

The app is the definition of simplicity: Swipe through to find the people or causes you want to support, like children in Yemen, home to the world’s largest hunger crisis; or families in the Republic of Congo, where pandemic-related lockdowns have pushed an additional 300,000 into hunger. From there, just tap Give Now. Donations start at 80 cents to feed a child for one day.

Browse ShareTheMeal to find a cause that speaks to you, and to donate to help it reach its goal.

Taking a cue from social media, ShareTheMeal offers an engaging set of community features to inspire your giving. You can form teams with friends or coworkers, set team challenges, follow your progress, and unlock giving achievements on the Community tab. A Los Angeles couple recently created a viral movement through a ShareTheMeal team called #MillionMealsforLove. By November, it was responsible for nearly 2 million meals.

If you sign up for “The Table,” the monthly donation service, the app matches you directly with specific families in need and will give you regular updates to see the difference you’re making. Or use the gift feature to make a donation on someone’s behalf for a birthday or holiday, and even schedule it to arrive at the right time.

ShareTheMeal is more than a way to send money. It’s a way to join a community looking to find solutions.
