FEATURED APP
Tame Your Mastodon Timeline
Ivory for Mastodon by Tapbots
A Magnificent App for Mastodon
Mastodon, the fast-growing social network, is a fantastic way to keep tabs on what your friends and favorite personalities are up to. But follow too many people and it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Ivory to the rescue! A direct descendent of the award-winning Tweetbot for Twitter, Ivory lets you take control of your Mastodon timeline—and the time you spend reading it.
What we love: Ivory’s customizability. Quickly switch between timelines, lists, notifications, mentions, and more. Choose exactly how each post looks, like the font style and size, profile name and photo, media previews, and the size of action buttons. And for each of your Mastodon accounts, pick exactly what you get notified about (such as mentions, favorites, boosts, and follows), whether to hide duplicate boosts, and which read-later service to use.
Quick tip: Want to focus on the important stuff? Use timeline filters—accessed via the search button—to quickly view only boosted posts or only posts with images or links, or to block posts from specific users or with particular keywords or hashtags. And don’t miss the Statistics tab to see an interesting summary of your recent activity and how others have responded to it.
Meet the creator: Tapbots is a team of three based in Texas and Canada; the company’s first app was Weightbot, a weight-tracking app for iPhone released in 2008. Developer Paul Haddad says Ivory feels so polished, despite being a new app, because it’s based on the work the team did on Tweetbot: “It’s actually been in development since 2010.”
