Math Copilot Number Line is built for kids aged 3-8 who are just getting comfortable with numbers, counting and basic arithmetic. Rather than another lesson program, this is a copilot: a utility that they can have on hand when doing homework or other math activities. It allows kids to:
- scroll up or down a number line indefinitely, without the space limitations of paper number lines
- pinch or zoom to change the scale of the number line, from small decimals to enormous numbers
- perform basic arithmetic by directly interacting with the numbers and seeing intermediate results
- "play back" the addition and subtracting to make it even clearer what is going on
- make changes to calculations via drag and drop, to help see how reordering terms and moving them to the other side of the equation changes what happens on the number line
- highlight odds, evens and do skip counting
- just play with numbers at a wide range of scales via direct manipulation, in order to better develop an internal mathematical model
Don't print out any more number lines. Give your kids a way to feel and explore numbers, giving them a great foundation for later learning.

Addition and subtraction done on the number line can now be replayed to reinforce what is going on. As well, kids can now play with the calculations themselves via drag and drop, helping them understand how reordering terms, or even moving them to the other side of the equation, changes what happens on the number line. Pressing play to watch the calculation in action makes helps improve understanding even further.
