ReefTrak Patch Notes – April 1 to April 16, 2025 A steady tide of progress Major Improvements to Cloud Sync Stability Over the past few weeks, we’ve focused heavily on improving the iCloud sync system. Syncing parameters and tanks is now working more reliably across devices. Fish, corals, and maintenance data are syncing in most cases, but we are still working through a few edge cases where data may not download correctly. All data is still securely stored in your personal iCloud account, and we’re continuing to improve how consistently it’s retrieved. To help ensure your data syncs correctly, we’ve added a manual sync option in the toolbar—though in most cases, you shouldn’t need it. Visual Maintenance Overhaul The Maintenance tab has received a lot of love: Green checkmarks now appear next to completed tasks Calendar view displays daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks accurately Progress bars now show completion ratios correctly Task counts include completed entries for better tracking Custom task support improved with smarter filtering and debug logging Sync Progress Bars + Robust Logging Syncing now shows percentage-based progress bars throughout the process, including: Visual sync tracking from 1% to 100% Progress reporting for each step of the parameter sync More accurate failure messages and retry mechanisms for CloudKit errors Resolved issues with duplicate records causing sync to hang Smarter Sync Logic & Concurrency Fixes We refactored large parts of the sync engine: Smarter batch processing for parameters, with reduced race conditions Improved actor isolation and concurrency handling for smoother operations Better error handling and retry logic for all CloudKit interactions Conflict resolution and deduplication systems now better preserve data integrity across multiple devices Calendar Task Display Improvements Custom, daily, and recurring maintenance tasks now show up reliably on their assigned days, with better logic for task recurrence and display. Whether you run weekly water changes or quarterly equipment checks, the app is now better at keeping them visible and organized. Additional Changes ICP date handling and result display refined Improved UI feedback for task completions and errors Tank image syncing bugs resolved Detailed logging added for all key sync functions Performance optimizations across the board New: Submit Feedback Directly From the App Have an issue or suggestion? You can now send feedback straight to me using the new “Submit Feedback” button in the main toolbar. This sends an email that includes basic device information to help troubleshoot—but nothing personally identifiable is collected or stored. Coming Soon: Subscription & Lifetime Unlock ReefTrak will remain free for the next month while we finalize and test subscription handling. This update includes important improvements to stability, subscription handling, and user experience: Crash fix related to entitlement change We resolved a launch issue that occurred after a required entitlement update. The app now correctly handles container path changes and database initialization on all devices. Improved subscription reliability Enhanced logic for verifying subscription status and managing StoreKit transactions for a more consistent experience across installs and upgrades. Temporary full access to Premium features While subscriptions are still propagating in the live App Store environment, all users will temporarily receive Premium access by default. A notice is displayed in the app to keep users informed during this rollout phase.
