I’ve read negetive reviews about Life 360, concerning privacy and the trust issues it can create. This is nonsense. These reviews are based on the assumption that all young people want to go places without their parents’ knowledge or that all couples are having affairs they want to keep secret. So if you have good and open family relationships, you and your children will love this app, especially in a country like South Africa where good parents check up on teenagers and students’ safe travels and arrival anyway - either through find my phone, a tracking device or a phone call. Life360 just makes this less of a hassle. With a glimpse you can see where everyone is. If your child forgets to check in, no need for late night calls, the app will let you know she is safe at her location. If you have a rebels in the house, they can use the bubble function if they really want to have secrets. So get the app. It will make life so much easier.

I cannot recommend Life360 enough. This past Sunday, it quite literally saved my husband’s life. He was highjacked, and in a situation where every second counts, the app allowed us to track his exact location in real-time.Because of the accuracy and speed of the location sharing, we were able to coordinate help and find him immediately. If you live in an area where safety is a concern, this app is an absolute necessity. It is more than just a convenience for families; it is a critical safety tool that provided us with the information we needed when it mattered most.

I can no longer endorse Life360 in good conscience. This app is unreliable and the experience will not improve with a laid subscription. Back up support is sorely lacking and uncooperative. My minor daughter disappeared from my family circle with her migration to a new iPhone. All attempts to add her back in or to create a new circle are refused or bring up error messages. When dealing with the support team one is met with an uncooperative bot which fails to understand the simple underlying issue and refuses to recognize or authenticate existing users who are easily verifiable via their email addresses, telephone numbers, apple id’s and legal guardian status. Instead the support team becomes ensnared in its own registration criteria. This app does NOT work for dual household separated families where each parent seeks to create their own circles. Interactions with the support team are endless and unsatisfactory. A simple telephone call with a support operator might easily have resolved the issue. Save yourself the frustration.

I found this app some years back. My husband works in a city over 1000km from home. He flew back to his work city after a visit home and did not call to say he arrived safely. He was uncontactable for 8 hours after arriving and I was worried he was kidnapped or ill. I called the police to do a wellness check. He sleepily answered the door at around 10pm to see a police officer and got a fright thinking something terrible had happened. Apparently, his phone died en route from the airport, he put it on charge while still on airplane mode and went to sleep so my calls weren’t going through. He was horrified that I called the police and called me a panic mechanic. Life 360 has saved my marriage. I know where he is all the time. He also knows where I am and now I have to explain my movements. He calls me in a panic when he sees me in an unfamiliar place thinking I’ve been hijacked. How the tables have turned. We added our son to the group when he went away to varsity and now we all know where everyone is. When I got tired of their complaints that I micromanage them, I took them both off the group in frustration. Within minutes they called, very agitated. We had a family meeting and they apologised for their complaints and asked to be added back. Turns out they actually love the app. My young niece came to live with me while doing her internship for 2 years. I created a new group with her and her parents as she was unfamiliar with the city and was taking Ubers. She graduated last year and returned to her home. I asked her if I should terminate the group and she said NO! She said she feels safer knowing she is being watched over. Life 360 keeps us all connected. I upgraded to a paid service and can see speed, routes driven and even infringements like using a cellphone while driving. Of course the person could be a passenger and cell phone usage would be reasonable. The app is not smart enough to know that yet. I’m very grateful to the creators of this app. Long live. 🤗
