Gaminik erases the original text, repairs the background, and lays the translation back in its place. Foreign games and manga read as if they came that way.
Gaminik is a real-time screen translator for macOS, made for games and comics in a foreign language.
Frame any region of the screen — game dialogue, a page of vertical manga, an app interface — and read it where it stands.
TRANSLATIONS THAT STAY IN THE PICTURE
The translation sits where the original was, and the picture keeps its shape:
• The original is erased and the background repaired, with no blocky patches
• Original text and background colors are carried over
• Layout follows the original; type size adapts to longer or shorter text
• Speech balloons are detected separately, with the text set inside them
• Vertical Japanese is reflowed to the reading direction of your target language
• Comic layouts can use a handwriting face with an outline, legible over busy art
IN GAMES
• Pick a game window or a region; translations refresh as the dialogue advances
• Recognition modes for game UI, story dialogue, subtitles and menus
• Story mode separates speaker from line, for visual novels and galgames
• Nearby lines are translated together for context; name the game and the AI keeps to its setting
• Translations are click-through and stay out of the way of play
IN COMICS
• Modes for vertical Japanese manga, Korean webtoons and Western comics, so the reading order holds
• Import comic images from your Mac: text set back onto the page, plus export and batch processing
RECOGNITION AND TRANSLATION
• Three recognition engines: fast on-device, high-accuracy on-device, high-precision cloud
• On-device recognition keeps everything on your Mac; nothing is uploaded
• Over 100 source languages into over 100 target languages
• A choice of AI translation engines, or connect a private service of your own
• Character and move names go in a glossary and read the same throughout
• Custom prompts set the tone and style

PERMISSIONS AND PRIVACY
• Screen Recording permission is needed to read the screen — the basis of screen translation
• Permissions are used only after you grant them and can be withdrawn at any time
• Screenshots are uploaded only when you choose cloud recognition
• No ads, and no tracking across apps
MEMBERSHIP
Free accounts receive a daily allowance of translation points, and once signed in you can claim more free points without limit. Pro membership comes in monthly, yearly and one-time lifetime tiers; prices are shown in the app.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless turned off at least 24 hours before the period ends; renewal is charged to your Apple Account within that 24 hours.
• Manage or cancel at any time in System Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions.
• Purchases restore on another Mac signed in to the same Apple Account, with Restore purchases in the app.
• Pro members translate with the default engine, by hand or automatically, with no limit on characters or count (batch image translation excepted).
• Pro members receive 1,000,000 coins each month (valid within that month), to spend on premium translation engines. Pro members can buy more coins separately; coins can only be purchased and used with a Pro Plan.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
macOS 13.0 or later, on Apple silicon and Intel. Translation requires an internet connection. Grant Screen Recording in System Settings › Privacy & Security before first use, then restart the app.
