This is by far the best email app I’ve used. It’s so simple and straight forward. Has a great interface, feature rich, intuitive and incredibly reliable. My favourite part is how it removes all the “formal email bulk”. No signatures, headers or the rubbish you don’t look at (even though you can still see that if you want), it just shows the message content. The versatile message grouping is great. I can have my entire history with one person in one thread (there are other options too) No searching through multiple results figuring out which email it was where we discussed something. All I can say, is that this app is really great. It’s free for personal use but I would happily pay even if it wasn’t. It’s a great app. I highly recommend it.

Gimmicky and incredibly frustrating

The whole selling point of the app is the chat-like look but it doesn’t even work that well since you have to physically open each email for it to mark them as read. There is no option in settings to change this. In fact there are almost no options in settings. You can’t even rearrange your folders or add vip contacts. And the “add contact” doesn’t come up with the “add to existing contact” option like it does with every other iOS app. Basically similar mechanics to Apple Mail but a worse execution and you have limited free features. Warning: free version adds a “chat @ spike” button to the bottom of all your emails which you can’t get rid of. Glad I sent myself a test email before confusing any of my clients with that. Deleted the app just now because there was a notification badge that wouldn’t go away after I read all the messages. Think it’s a bug to do with the “mark as read when archived” feature. Definitely not the future of email, sorry! Apple mail does a similar thing but better, and everyone here already has apple mail.

Hi Robyn, thanks for the review!If you long-press on a conversation in your inbox, you can change the status of the message from read to unread and vice versa without entering the conversation. Our settings do exist, and users can control how their messages are organized, Quick Replies, their signature, and more. I save so many hours a month with the “mark as read” feature. For typical email apps the notification badge (that shows how many emails are unread) is only useful if you actually ever reach “inbox zero”. With SPIKE i can reach inbox zero in two clicks for all folders in all of my email accounts I’ve ever created. WTH!! That’s just one great feature. Other favourites are obviously the conversation thread layouts and grouping.Well done SPIKE🥳😎👍

It has always surprised me that millions aren’t using this app. I have for years and have always found it great. Never had problems. It grouped emails together from the same person and I could read and delete all at the same time. It’s easy to set up and easy to use.
