The app is ok when it works but often it just doesn’t, stating ‘service error’. When it does work, data often disappears for instance daily load statistics or battery discharge statistics are reset to 0 the following day which makes tracking monthly totals inaccurate. Sometimes the flow screen shows 0w for everything while on the inverter, accurate figures are always shown.

The investment return rate also does not account for electricity price increases which makes it inaccurate so it is unusable in the long term.

The Sunsynk inverter is wonderful and problem free so far however the app is its weak point and needs more attention from the Sunsynk team.

The App is alright. The Home Screen should be simpler. Showing more figures of actual use. SMH by Centurion Solar does this brilliantly and is compatible with Sunsynk models. It also allows you to change a profile on Demand i.e. Loadshedding Profile will immediately shift out of an “off-grid” mode to charge batteries quickly. Then you can flick back to “Off-Grid” setting once you’re satisfied with the charge. It also shows things like Voltage, Hertz, amps, Watts drawn/produced, battery charging/discharging time to go with your own averaging period i.e. when discharging it’ll indicate time to 35% (% can be set) you have left at the current draw with an averaging period of 5mins(can be set) to smooth out Power demand ups & downs. When charging it’ll tell you how long to go before reaching 100% SOC. All this information on the very front page. And it’s simple. Sunsynk app is too much of silly info on the front pages. Too much clicking and back tracking to view information which should be on the front page. Check out SMH by Centurion Solar in South Africa.

I am going to reiterate the importance of more live updates. I don’t really understand how on the same network, you have to wait up to 10 minutes for the app to update. I’m on the same network. When I click refresh it should send a push for the data. It seems like a simple feature that’s missing. It takes too long.

Secondly, I think it’s *imperative* that you should be able to customize notifications. For example, when running a 8KW inverter, I’d like to be notified if we peak between 7-8KW, so I can quickly turn something off before tripping. Some might argue “you’d receive too many notifications.” but the reality is that that would be my choice, my prerogative.

The app simple is too robust. It doesn’t provide me enough information and usefulness to log on and check anything except for when we have actually tripped. Then when I log on to the app, it updates a whole 3 minutes before the trip, so I can’t even see what spiked the inverter to trip.

I genuinely cannot find anything positive to say about the app, apart from the fact that it is lightweight. However it is lightweight because of its lack of features.
