Whether you love movies, kittens, science, kittens, politics, or kittens, Reddit’s official app puts all this (plus kittens) at your fingertips. With a colorful and intuitive layout, it’s easy to browse and post to “the front page of the internet” across thousands of subreddits that cater to virtually every area of interest. Search for communities that line up with your hobbies; filter posts by posting time, hotness, and more; and get a breakdown of your own Redditing history to see where you reaped all that sweet, sweet karma. (Pro tip: You can’t go wrong with pictures of—you guessed it—kittens.)
Worst social media platform

I downloaded this app thinking it would be a fun place to converse with people. All I get is hate for differing opinions, and constantly have my posts hidden or taken down. It’s been two weeks in. This app is full of cyberbullies. When you report them the app does not care. They do nothing to silence the bullies, they actually condone it and lift them up on a higher platform while silencing the people being abused. I’ve never experienced this on any social media platform. Their is one thing to not like someone’s opinion but a whole other thing to try and abuse people mentally. They ask me to give them personal information on my phones serial numbers to make posts too, or I am not allowed to post in certain forums. Which means they are tracking people. I can’t even deactivate my page without using a computer. So they make it extremely hard for most people to delete their information too. This should be offered through all types of devices. The same as all other apps do. I also found out recently they are condoning child sexual abuse too. While they make my posts on my page 18+. They make my entire page 18+. When I’ve never posted anything not age appropriate. Nobody will help me with this regard. So I am definitely getting rid of this app. It’s of no use to me. I rather leave the abusive people in their box so they can attack one another. Instead of them leaving this app and attacking us everywhere else. Some of us enjoy freedom of speech and expression without being shunned for it.
They fixed the upvote button

Update: I’m raising my rating because the latest update fixed the update buttonEvery time you try to upvote a post, it freezes. It won’t let you change the font size anymore, and they changed it so the text is so small I can’t read it. I had to change the font size through iPhone settings. If you take a screenshot, an annoying box pops up asking if you want to just share the post, which you then have to close out. I know how to share a post, everyone who uses Reddit does, so if I wanted to share the post I would share the post. I no longer upvote posts or comments because of the freezing and because the buttons have gotten harder to hit. It’s like the range of space you can tap has gotten smaller or something so your finger misses even when it’s right on top. Like if you don’t hit it exactly in the center, it won’t work. Now every time it refreshes, half the posts are posts I’ve read before. It didn’t used to do that. Now I have to scroll through all these posts I’ve read just to get to the ones I haven’t read. I’m subscribed to like 100 subs, but it only shows me posts from like the same 10. 1/3 of the posts will all be from one sub. I’d like to see more variety. You would think when Reddit killed third party apps they would have tried to make their user experience better, but it just gets worse and worse. It’s almost like they know we can’t go anywhere else and have no choice but to put up with their crappy app, so they have no incentive to fix it.
Entertaining app, seriously overlooked UX issues

Apart from the continuous internal search issues that many users have brought up and Reddit support has stated it’s working on revamping, there are a lot of bugs on Reddit mobile and on the mobile app. Reddit is trying to push people toward their proprietary app, but on mobile browser pages directly links users to the App Store when they already have the app installed. And since the search function is so bad on Reddit, if you can’t pop the post up on your app then you won’t be able to find it too easily on your app to browse through it as intended and will probably abandon the pursuit (since the mobile website does not work well at all). The latest app update makes videos autoplay when you’re just on a subreddit’s browsing page or when you click into the comment thread of a video post, stripping users of their control to not have random videos blast out of their phone speakers and resulting in users having to browse with muted speakers and toggle volume on and off for each individual video they want to check out. The new comments visibility toggle UI tool is also buggy and poorly placed so it often interferes with built-in device gestures. How is this the intended UI and UX behavior at all?! Users do not want autoplaying, full-volume videos. If you insist on autoplays to boost your arbitrary views metrics, then at least auto-mute the videos within the app’s media viewer. No one wants to hear the same obnoxious 15-second video audio on a loop as they read through the comments.
Thanks for updating the Reddit app! We've updated our iOS app with bug fixes and changes to improve your overall experience.
