I just started using this. I didn’t see the option to do the trial, but would have probably ended up committing anyway because I love it so much. Putting money behind my commitment motivates me to stick with it so it’s worth the cost. I have seen zero free apps so it’s silly for people getting on this app for not being free, especially if you have a trial. I think this was really affordable.
I agree with a previous review about our body being exhausted, sugar up, etc. It does worry me when I see that but I’m new to this so it’s hard to really judge that.
I think there should be more choices for food. Twice I’ve had cereal and don’t know how to record it. For such a common food choice, or even snack choice, I’m surprised to not find that but find seaweed. Maybe add a feature where you can add a food choice to be approved by admin or something. I’m all about details. I don’t know if serving side vs how much you actually eat is important, but I think it is. Portions are important. Maybe add a feature where you can edit or add the food choice and manually enter calories, fiber, carbs, and sugar per serving. Other than dying for more detail with food choices, this app is amazing and I’m so excited to use it and start seeing results! Thank you for such a cool and easy app for beginners along with seasoned fasters!
Love this app! 5 stars for sure...but
I absolutely love this app. It is very informational and motivational. I feel really great about choices I am making and have learned a lot about my relationship with food. The things I have learned will definitely help me form better habits permanently versus temporarily like with a diet.
The only complaint I have is that every time you eat, your tracker tells you that you’re in sugar up mode and your body is exhausted digesting food. It doesn’t matter if you took one bite of egg...it says your body is exhausted. It’s like it’s only happy if it’s not eating at all. I don’t like that because it kind of makes you not want to eat at all which would be a dangerous thing to do. For people who take these things seriously and want to use it as a tool to feel good, I personally don’t feel good when I see that every time I take a single bite of food that my body is tired and it’s hard to concentrate. Even hours after I’ve eaten the tracker says “you’re doing better, but it’s still hard to concentrate.” Even after a healthy meal! This needs to be tweaked. But I’m not taking away a star because I still think it’s a great app and worth the annual cost.
Good but could be better
Re. developer response: thanks for getting back to me but unfortunately the below problem still stands. Getting the notifications saying “1hr/30min left” remain inaccurate if my desired end time is 7:15pm and my Simple settings require me to put end time of either 7pm or 7:30pm. Also, I still get unwanted content notifications though I already turned them off in my settings, which makes me want to turn them off altogether.
Original review: I just started using Simple and so far have found it pretty good for tracking my meals and it’s encouraging to see the different states my body goes through as I fast. Unfortunately this app requires you to set your fast times either on the hour, or 30min past the hour; nothing in between. This is a big problem for me as my husband and I have chosen to do our fasts at 15min past, meaning I don’t get any of the notifications and alerts to start my fast at the right time. My husband uses a different app that allows him to choose the time down to the minute. I’ve stuck with Simple because I like that there’s Watch compatibility, but if I’m not getting the notifications I need then it may be pointless anyway. As such I may have to switch to using the same app as him instead. I wish Simple would allow us to actually select custom fasting times, then I’d definitely stick to it.
