Stumbling upon this app (and it’s sister app Toon Art) is now saving me literally hundreds of hours in the top industry photo apps turning my photos into toon and or manga style base photos. The outcome quality of each toon style they offer is light years ahead of any desktop app I have used. I am rendering my photos into toon shots in this app and uploading them into the finishing desktop app for any fine tuning. But honestly so far the fine tuning is mostly not necessary at all.

I was really excited to try Toon app because the idea of creating AI photos and videos sounded awesome. Unfortunately, the experience was pretty frustrating. The biggest issue is that the AI doesn’t make faces look recognizable at all. The photos it generated barely looked like the original person — facial features were distorted, proportions were off, and sometimes it looked like a completely different person. For an app that’s supposed to specialize in AI visuals, I expected much better accuracy and realism.On top of that, you only get to try one video before the app pushes you to pay. One video is nowhere near enough to properly test whether the app is worth subscribing to. It feels like you don’t really get a fair trial before being hit with a paywall. There aren’t enough free features to actually explore what the app can do.Overall, Tune feels more like a demo than a usable app unless you’re ready to spend money immediately. Between the unrecognizable faces and the extremely limited free access, I wouldn’t recommend it unless major improvements are made.

The results are just phenomenal, I used it for a week to make a number of tunes out of pictures of myself, my wife, daughter, son and a couple of close friends, oh and my cats. Then it auto renewed and I realized that this wasn’t an expensive app that cost $9, but instead a rediculoisly expensive app that cost $9 EVERY WEEK! While I enjoyed using it, and as I say the results are incredible, there just is no way it is worth almost 500 dollars a year. So I am canceling the subscription that I didn’t really understand I was signing up for. Well I will as soon as I can find the cancel option in the entry in subscription list., which seems to be very well hidden or completely missing compared to renewing which is super simple to find and do.

I tried with a variety of settings and none of them came out looking like the actual picture. I read all of the great reviews, and I was excited, but ultimately was disappointed with the end product. I wish I could post the pictures, you would get a laugh at how off the app was from delivering something close to looking like the people in the photo. It also automatically defaults to a “white” skin color, but you do have the ability to change the complexion once the picture is generated. The clay one which is the one I was most excited to use was the one that was most off brand. They do have a free trial, it didn’t charge me. I used it for the day and then cancelled after seeing what they outcomes were. The app was easy to use, it just didn’t deliver anything that looked remotely like me or anyone that was in any of the pictures I used. Wish there was a different outcome, I was excited to use this app.
