Such a great app for off-roading. Incredible information. Suffers from a number of bugs/poor UX. Downloaded map areas perpetually say “Update Available,” but when you tap to update, it will briefly switch do a progress bar before again displaying “Update Available.” You can keep tapping and it will eventually say “Downloaded,” but you can still tap it and it will continue downloading and showing a progress bar. Did the offline content actually get updated? I have no idea. The CarPlay app struggles to follow your position. Why do you have to tell it to center to your position any time you do anything? You have to tap the arrow to center the map on your location. Then you have to manually select which trail you’re on (it should do this automatically). Then you have to tap the arrow again to get the app to follow as you drive. Is there no way to have CarPlay auto center on your location? I have to go through this rigamarole every time I unplug my phone from the car (which is often for photos). Tapping “Search for Trails” brings up the search function, but you have to tap the search bar again to actually search. It should pull up the keyboard soon as you tap the first time. Why is there no search filter on the app as there is online?

Thank you for your review and such detailed feedback! I can understand the disconnect/reconnect problem, the way you describe it makes sense. We will work on streamlining these functions to make it a more seamless experience.
This App is simply the best for what it does

Don’t get me wrong, I use Gaia, OnX, and all trails, they are all good for different things. But when you just want to simply see an easy layout of trails in an area with directions and difficulty( with built in way points and pictures), This app is the best at that. This app is intuitive and very easy to use. I have always uploaded GPX files from Trailsoffroad website to Gaia but I don’t even really bother with that anymore unless I’m planning an entire multi day route. You can download an entire state of trails with this APP for offline use and it used less than a GB of storage. You don’t have to fuss with map layers and settings, the app will even show you camping spots in the area with waypoints. The trail teams who reviews and writes the information on this app are spot on and know their stuff when it comes to off roading. My only gripe is that they should add a feature to track and map out planned routes.

Great app!

I love this app! It’s like AllTrails for off roading but more accurate. 😂 I have friends who have various vehicles, not all modded, so the recommended vehicle section is very helpful in finding suitable trails for them. The app gives you a lot of useful information to help select the right trail but also to navigate while on it. The waypoints are helpful for various things besides just navigating, like determining a good camping or lunch spot but also in finding out information about stuff along the trail you might have missed otherwise. The user reviews that can be added to each trail along with user rating on the accuracy of the trail rating is very helpful, especially as the weather can alter the trail / difficulty. There are additional features I like as well but overall, I'm a big fan of what they've done!
A solid base, but three years in and it’s still frustratingly klunky

This app is wonderful in many ways — it has a great community, and top notch guide content makes the premium sub worth it. Car Play is useful… kinda. But every time I use it I get frustrated. “How do I get a trail open?” I ask this every time I use the app. Tap on something and the app does the right thing sometimes and nothing other times. No idea why. I have the data downloaded but even when “prefer offline data” is configured, it tries to use the cell signal and the app bogs down miserable when you’re out off the grid. In the car play mode I find myself asking, which direction am I actually traveling? We got off trail this weekend and disagreed on how to get back because a blue dot has no frame of reference. When I want to navigate to the start of a trail, it asks if I want the forward or reverse — a great question to ask but I have no idea how to answer it. Forward and reverse are never mentioned elsewhere so how am I supposed to answer? I end up doing it multiple times just to figure it out.I just went in to share a link to a trail … but this is not something I can find a button to do. This seems like a huge oversight for network growth, and yet it’s still missing. It’s full of places where the app is unnatural, and it’s frustrating to use as a result. BUT. The guides and community are where this app shines and make it worth the frustration.
