Rewritten from the ground up, Talanome Version 10 has an all-new interface, revamped Audio Engine & Tala Visualizer, and 100s of Talas & information for music aficionados We created Talanome in 2011 as the first-of-its-kind Metronome catering specifically to Carnatic Talas. Built with a precision sound engine, it understood and utilized Carnatic tala structures and terminology. Over the years, we've added many new features - other Carnatic Talas like Chapu Talas, adjustable pitch/Shruti, alternate Nadais, etc. We then made a Tala Creation Engine that allowed users to create *any* complex beat pattern. Our Talanome version 10 has been rewritten from the ground up, with a brand-new, easy-to-use and intuitive interface, reimagined Tala Visualizer, completely revamped Audio Engine and a powerful new way to create any beat pattern in any genre - all while staying true to its Carnatic roots! Sarvam Thaala Mayam translates to "rhythm is everywhere." True to that philosophy, Talanome aims to provide the musician with a plethora of Talas, both conventional and esoteric, ranging from simple to complex, Carnatic to Thiruppugazh, Hindustani, Fusion and beyond! I've been waiting for this app for nearly 40 years. While I haven't yet used the make your own tala option, the talas included are plenty for me right now, especially since Sridhar added the viloma misra nadai option. I use it every day, and will recommend it to all my students come fall. Sridhar is very responsive and helpful about adding and tweaking features. Congratulations! It beats the old talometers in every way.

I've been waiting for this app for nearly 40 years. This is an awesome app and very useful in my daily practice.I just observed one bug. When you use it and before you close the app let’s say we are on roopaka tala, and close the app, kill the session too and reopen it, the selection still shows roopaka tala, but the count below is reset to adi tala. Please check this

I often use this in conjunction with a tanpura, which is set to a note slightly sharper than a true D. Unfortunately no way to adjust the Shruti of the note in the taalanome to match the tanpura.

Hi Mark, Thanks for the review - much appreciated! Please note that the latest version of Talanome (version 9.0.0 onwards) has (fine-grained) adjustable Shruti, so you should be able to match it to your tanpura now! Just update your Talanome to the latest version! 🙏

New interface is confusing and hard to use

The app and user interface are re-written from the ground up according to the release note of v10. It is not clear what the reason was. The interface is confusing and hard to use. A lot of things including picking sounds is now difficult. I somehow get the feeling the app has lost some of its features.

In order to keep Talanome going for years to come, it is necessary to keep with with latest User Interface paradigms and iOS versions and capabilities, and for that reason, the best approach was to take the time and effort and just rewrite it from the ground up. So the rewrite was to prepare it for the future. We have maintained feature parity with the previous version and improved upon it in many other ways. The earlier interface for picking sounds was very simplistic and would not be the right approach for the addition of new sounds later on. We also now provide the customization of sounds beyond just leading and trailing sounds (sub-division beats, count-in sound being a couple of examples). For the most part, if you just adjust the leading beat sound and trailing beat sound in the sound settings, it mirrors the functionality of the previous version. It would be great if you can email us (support@upbeatlabs.com) so we can get more direct and detailed feedback from you to continue to evolve the app and improve it (and make it less confusing and more intuitive to use!) 😊Thank you! 🙏
