UPTATE: Got what I wished for and they somehow made things worse. Can’t scan without logging in, and it doesn’t keep you logged in. No ability to play through the app like nearly every other state nearby. I’ve gone to buying my tickets online from a 3rd party website.I travel between Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois weekly. The other two state’s lottery apps are FAR superior to Ohio’s. Camera issues…server issues…reward and cashing issues. They need to start over with a full redesign of this app that’s largely been untouched in many years. Come on, Ohio. You’re making enough on the lottery that you can spend the 2-300k to have this app re-done.

Since the Ohio Lottery application was updated two weeks ago, I’ve had horrible experience trying to help my elderly parents validate their accounts with their drivers license. I was successful updating my account No problem, I’ve tried everything called Ohio Lottery even went in a local Ohio Lottery regional office, but they were all no help. I made sure the driver’s license was not expired, their names were spelled correctly, and their addresses were correct. I helped verify their account at the end of January but after this latest update the application forced to verify their accounts again which been unsuccessful for weeks trying to verify their account again, which I think the system is flagging because their drivers license were already used once. Ohio Lottery has not been helpful at all and the latest update is claiming to fix all the bugs…I tried reaching out to the third-party verification company persona. They’ve also not been helpful claiming I need to reach out to Ohio Lottery first.. It’s been very frustrating as it’s clear that there are glitches not being fixed or detected…

My phone is in perfect condition, camera lens is clean, tried in many different types of lighting and backgrounds, etc. I still can not get the Scan Tickets camera feature to focus on any of my lottery tickets barcodes. I have tried scratch offs, Mega Millions and Powerball. When I put the whole ticket in the frame the picture is clear and the app can not read the barcode from that distance apparently. (Even though regular apple camera on QRCodes could do this) I move the card or receipt closer to the camera so the barcode is majority of the box like the app recommends and then it turns into a big blurry blob and making the card look like what I can only imagine as what being legally blind would be like. As the app updates are far and few between I would expect this to be fixed anytime soon. Ohio Lottery should really give another company a chance to run the app.

I’m sure it’s some stupid law in Ohio now but I can’t even scan a ticket to see if it’s a winner or not without giving a picture of my ID. So one more place I have to give my personal info just to scan a ticket that will more times than not say, sorry idiot you lost…I’ll take the 5 or 10 bucks I would normally spend on a lotto ticket and cut it up into tiny little pieces with scissors to make confetti, then throw it at a stranger on the street. At least that way, I’ll get some sort of fun out it, without having to give my ID to another website….then I’ll pick up the tiny little pieces, because I’m not the type of person to litter, tape them back together, and try to purchase a lotto ticket from one of their machines, in turn jamming the mechanism that takes dollar bills, and making it so the next person cannot purchase a ticket….boom, put that in your pipe and smoke it….
