Great Game, Great Nostalgia!

I played this game almost nine years ago now when I was five, now I’m fourteen and I’d just like to say it’s so similar to how I remembered it! As soon as I saw that the ten year anniversary came out for this game, I had to reinstall it! I’ve been playing for a while now and it’s been super fun going through different missions while unlocking different abilities and characters. My one complaints are the fact that the Jelly event isn’t active anymore and it’s really unfortunate because I remember playing that event when I played this back in 2015 and it was SO much fun! And the layout was way better in my opinion. There’s also the excessive ads each time I end a run, but that can easily be fixed with 1.99 and I would not mind the price. And one last thing, the bosses felt like they were definitely a bigger threat than they actually are and it’s not really a challenge to beat them. All it is is just four swipes left or right and three taps on the screen. I wish there was a difficulty setting on how challenging you want your experience to be. Other then that, great game! I’m currently on the Mall chapter and I can’t wait to unlock the theme park chapter. That one was definitely my favorite.

I used to play the old version this game a long time ago when I was younger and I still liked it till this day. When I heard that you guys were remaking this game with better graphics, new abilities, and a new ui, I was excited to replay one of my childhood favorites until I saw some problems with this new version of Minion Rush. The thing I liked about this version is how some of the new abilities are super overpowered, allowing you to destroy obstacles in your way with ease while riding on a car. The things I didn’t liked about this new version of Minion Rush is the amount of ads shoved into your face, the lack of bosses,the strict tournament time. Well you can argue that the company has to have ads in order to monetize this free game but they throw ads in while you’re navigating the menu and after you finished running. Then, you could also argue that they might add in bosses in a future update but It just feels empty without them. Now I’m going to talk about the short time limit for the tournament. This might be a skill issue but I think the tournament in the should last for at least a week because I sometimes don’t play this game or I might be busy doing something. Disregarding all the flaws, this is still a very good endless runner, even though a prefer the original over the new one.

The new most recent major update took away the majority of content that made the game fun and interesting. Prior to this major update the game was very interesting and entertaining. An example of a feature that was removed was the ability of all costumes having different power ups and buffs. It was enjoyable to have incentive to collecting new costumes as some were superior to others for certain challenges. Similar to this, the decision to remove mission mode with different quests to complete was ill advised as it removed a majority of the motive to run. I also think that most of the power-ups are lame and very similar to each other. An example of this is with the rocket blade and the ultimate. They both do the exact same thing. I believe that the old power ups are far superior to the newly added ones. Specifically, the freeze ray and the evil minion potion should still be in the game as they also reference the Despicable Me movies where these new power ups do not. Additionally, there are only four locations when before there were around 15 or more. I hope that this game reverts the changes to the game that removed the enjoyable aspects as there is way less content to enjoy. I think is it crucial that the different minion costumes have different passives that give them certain buffs for different missions and it is important that the mission mode is restored in some manner. These two aspects of the game are the most essential to keep the game fun.

The game is really fun to play and probably my favorite game to play on my phone at random times, but, it can get repetitive is the only issue. 😕 What I mean is, a lot of the time I feel like I am doing the same thing over and over just with different objectives. There should be more game modes like one that all of the obstacles are all jump-overs and you run in a straight line and try to jump over as many as you can, the stuff in the shop that you can buy in the shop, for real money, is often overpriced. 2.99 for only 400 tokens, seriously? There are MUCH better deals on the app than that. There should also be an option to view all the deals, that are for real money, in one place. I can never buy any because the deals that I want only pop up once on my screen. I do not like that sometimes if you watch ads for rewards it bugs and doesn’t give you the reward. You all gain money from me watching ads, and I got nothing even though I was told I was going to get a reward! A user of this app shouldn’t have to think that maybe it will bug out, this is the only app I have seen that’s done this before.
