An ATC App Built for us.

The ATC app really surprised me in a good way. This is much better than looking at a map with random dots on it. I like that I can listen to live ATC and track the aircraft movements. I can also see what is happening in real time! The ATC app is very interesting especially if you like aviation or flight simming.The app interface is really good. Everything is easy to find. It does not look messy. The map is nice to look at. It is easy to understand. You do not feel confused when there is a lot of information on the screen. The aviation app seems like it was made by people who know a lot about aviation, not people who are making something that looks nice. The aviation app is very user friendly! That is what makes it so good.I also want to give a thank you to Eric. The help he provided and how quickly he responded really stood out to me. It is not often that you see someone who is behind an app and they actually listen to what you have to say and answer your questions and they care about what the users think.Overall, this app is by far one of the best I have ever used, and seen. I have used others.. I won’t name names, but they aren’t as good as this app. I am super excited to see the future of this app, and how the developers will add more and more features, and maybe even some new airports. But for now, it’s best to just focus on building up from what there is.

This app is a pretty cool concept, I really like how the Home Screen has highlights and you can find interesting events. However that being said, when you are starting up the app, you are forced to go through a very long and annoying intro. There needs to be a way to bypass it if you don’t want to waste time and figure it out yourself. Also, the pricing model on this is very predatory. $90 a year or $7 a week. There needs to be a middle ground, and even then this is a lot. Yes I know there is a free trial. That’s how I have been trying it out, but unfortunately I don’t see myself paying for this. If you’re gonna be charging that much money, this app needs to have the functionality of ADS-B exchange and Flight Radar built in. Airport pins on the map, arrival and departure boards, all that stuff. Not just the explore mode where you move around a map with limited functions. Oh and one more thing. It’s not cool to keep playing the radio communications in the background after you return to the Home Screen on your phone. There needs to be an option to disable that feature added. All in all. This is the right idea, it’s a cool concept, I really hope this can gain some more functionality in the future and be a one stop shop for aviation. Because Flight Radar 24 has literally gone down the drain. You have a great opportunity to capitalize it!

I've already requested it through the app, but I'd love to finally see SAN throughout the app. Otherwise keep it up!

Judging by most reviews, this is a terrific app, even if it is very expensive: $90 per year.If you intend to download it, there are some things you should know.1. You can opt for a seven-day trial period, BUT you will need to enter your credit card AND billing will automatically start when the trial period is over, if you don't--or forget to--cancel. Put a reminder on your calendar!2. The app has limitations. If you are familiar with the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system in the U.S., you will understand those limitations and why they exist. To explain this in a ridiculously simple way, ATC has two parts. One is the airport environment and the other is the rest of the U.S. airspace, the enroute environment. This app only tracks traffic and communication in the airport environment. It would be nearly impossible for it to track communication beyond that, because the enroute environment comprises hundreds of sectors, each with its own set of frequencies. While there are many apps that can track aircraft in the enroute environment, there will probably never be an app that can track all the communication that takes place between flight crews and controllers there. All the different frequency changes through all the sectors that aircraft pass through as they navigate from one airport to another would be nearly impossible to follow without some very expensive infrastructure.Bottom line: This app is not perfect, but it does a pretty good job following aircraft in the immediate airport environments of the airports that are covered. The recording feature is great, as you can go back and replay communications between ATC and specific airplanes. This feature also is not perfect, but it's pretty good. Is the app worth $90 a year? You have to decide that for yourself. I've signed up for one year. Time will tell...
