Last year, my daughter experienced something in school that produced a “come to Jesus” moment in my life. I’ve been a Christian for the better part of 20 years, but only in the last year have I had fire and passion for it. This app has singularly helped me to realize so many things I hadn’t grasped, hadn’t understood, hadn’t known. I feel after reading it and hearing Nicky’s comments (and Pippa’s) that there is so much more than what appears on the surface. When I first was a “Christian,” believing in God was all it was. I put the quotes there because I have since learned the God is only part of the Christian equation. YEARS later, I started to learn the importance and relevance of Jesus and his death. Since starting this app, I feel I have a balanced education on the importance of the Trinity, a starting knowledge of basic theology, and a hunger for more. I have started reading books on theology I checked out through the library. I read Christian fiction books. I started a prayer journal. I talk to God (sometimes out loud while doing the dishes or the laundry). I was once ashamed that I was “just a stay at home mom.” Now I know that the purpose for my job is to disciple my children and raise the next generation for Christ. It is an amazing turnaround to go through. This app has fed the fire that God gave to me through a horrible situation. I’m so grateful for all of it.

I made the decision to follow Christ as an 7 year the summer of 1994. The past 30 years have had its ups and downs, but I have always held tightly to the Lord and desired to know Him more. I have read the Bible before, the entire Bible, but in bits and pieces and could never keep up with Bible in a Year plans. I’ve always desired to read the Bible in a year AND read a devotional that would help me understand more but as a stay at home mom the last 15 years, getting 30 mins to myself to sit and read every day seemed quite impossible. So grateful for Nicky and Pippa and all the hard work they put into developing such a beautiful daily devotional while connecting the daily Bible Reading. The fact that I could LISTEN to the Bible and commentary/devotional was a game changer. I could listen while in the car running errands, folding laundry, while talking a walk, working out, etc. This past year, 2024, for the first time in 30 years of knowing Jesus, I read/listened to the Bible from cover to cover thanks to this app AND gained an incredible amount of understanding thanks to the way Nicky and Pippa explained the daily reading. I truly cannot say thanks enough for all who have a hand in this app and making it available and free. Everything about it is amazing and I am so grateful.

This is my 3rd year following the content in this app. It is a great way to read through the Word with insights and explanations that make it so meaningful. Love it! Unfortunately very disappointed in the changes made for 2021.There is no need to show the full Bible texts as so many are using their own Bible for the readings. The previous way - click on the text to open to it was much better. Now there is So much to scroll back and forth through if you have your own Bible or want to read back in the commentary. Also, previous version used to let you send a particular daily devotional to others, now not able to do this. I think this was a mistake. Being able to send someone one of the daily commentaries was a way to spread the Message to another person who might benefit from it. Plus it made others aware of this wonderful App. Please make this option available again. Thank you for considering these suggestions/requests.

New 2021 version takes away any flexibility and wants to control you. I've been using BIOY for the last year and a half as an organized whole-Bible reading plan. I started at the end of July but wanted to start my readings at the beginning of the Bible. That was easily accommodated with the old version. I simply downloaded all the days and started with the January 1 reading. The app kept track of what days I had read, so if I missed a day I could either catch up or just fall a day behind. Imagine my shock and disappointment when the app automatically updated in January of 2021 and lost my place, but also prevented me from recovering it. Now the app basically forces you to read only what is available that day, or you're out of luck. I was 10 days from completing the Bible and now I have to reconstruct my place from memory so I can finish my complete reading of the Bible. What a disappointment. The app has commentary that reads like a devotional, rather than an in-depth commentary but is very well done (at least the old version was). It leans very heavily on Eugene Peterson's "The Message" which is a helpful paraphrase of the Bible. However, I could never recommend it to someone who has the goal of reading the whole Bible because there is no flexibility now. What a shame. I'm sure Nicky has his reasons. Just count me as a disappointed former user. I've read the entire Bible twice before, outside my group Bible study, using different organized reading plans and I will return to those methods for my next reading.
