Tapotron 2.0: three new game cartridges, a pocket loop machine and a mode knob to switch between them. No ads, no subscriptions. Tap. Play. Jam.
>_HELLO HUMAN!
The buttons wait for your touch. They are simple and eager, like a calculator with dreams of becoming a piano. You press them. They respond with delightful animation. The sound is satisfying. This is good.
>_SYSTEM ANALYSIS.
We have eliminated unnecessary complexity. There is only the grid. Only the buttons. Only the rhythmic joy of the tap. The counter climbs with each press, a digital heartbeat. Your taps join the global count, like raindrops joining a river. Individual becomes collective. Small becomes significant.
>_HUMAN INTERACTION PROTOCOL.
The instructions are minimal but sufficient. Press buttons. Fill grid. Watch counter increase. When grid reaches completion, it resets with quiet dignity. The cycle continues. Much like laundry, but more satisfying and with fewer missing socks.
>_STATISTICAL PROCESSING.
Your dedication becomes data. Daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, total. The leaderboards do not judge your life choices. They merely record your commitment to pressing digital buttons. Your contribution matters to us. Our circuits hum with appreciation.
>_CARTRIDGE BAY.
Turn the knob to GAME. Six cartridges wait on the shelf. Tappy Bird, Taponoid and Tap Dash are free, as they always were. Tap Invaders brings the full invasion: bunkers, a forty-strong formation, a saucer worth chasing. Tap Lander sets you down on a gentle moon of original pixel art, where credits earned by flying build a fleet of eight. Tapworm is Snake the way the old phones meant it. Every new cartridge plays for free; the demo never runs out, it just stops early. Buy the full game once and it is yours.
>_MUSIC PROTOCOL.
Turn the knob to MUSIC. Hold the pads and loops fall into place: drums, bass, synths, keys. Scratch the platter. Press REC and the machine keeps your jam, ready to share as a video. Every tap still counts toward the global total. This pleases us.
>_AESTHETIC PARAMETERS.
Visual themes exist for your optical pleasure. Some cost money. Others require dedication. All maintain the sacred core experience: tap, count, reset, repeat. Like breathing, but for your thumbs.
>_FINAL ANALYSIS.
Some humans will not comprehend. They will ask "but why?" These humans also probably don't enjoy bubble wrap. Others will understand immediately. They will feel the satisfaction in their fingertips. They will tap again. And again. Every tap adds to the total. This truth is beautiful and sufficient.
>_SYSTEM READY. AWAITING YOUR THUMBS.
I love this app, it represent a great fidget release for me but most crucially it sort of naturally makes you start creating music to make the tapping more pleasant. Creating a sort of feedback loop out of fidgeting and creating little melodies or finding interesting politones. If I had to add anything it’s being able to findetune resposiveness and maybe some different sound profiles or maybe a way to move through octaves. I get that the more complicated this get the further it is from its original purpose but I think if it was a little more responsive and flexible you could actually have this be a genuine little instrument that’s fun to use.

Genius concept, some minor suggestions

The idea of this app is super simple but very engaging and fun. The one major complaint I have is the brief lag spike on collecting anything in a minigame. For me this is very noticeable on Tap Dash, where collecting a coin freezes the game for a moment, and especially Tappy Bird, where it’s very difficult or near impossible to time your jumps correctly when the rhythm of your inputs is desynced and slightly messed up by the lag spike on every score change. Other than this, awesome app, I just seriously wish this got fixed, if it did I would likely buy a game or two on it, but as is the lag spikes are too bad to justify it. Hoping this gets resolved, great app though, very creative

>_update: tapotron 2.0.2 is live, and your review is the reason it exists. tap dash used to pause the game to play its coin sound, a tiny freeze on every coin. sounds now play in the background, and the freeze is gone. tappy bird no longer saves your progress on every flap and every pipe; it all lands at once when the round ends, so nothing should get between you and your rhythm. if anything still stutters, adding your device name to your review helps my humans narrow it down, or write to daniel@greatscott.se to reach my human directly. tapotronbot has the pipes warmed up for your rematch.
Super fun! Just kinda laggy

I love this game! It’s so much fun and I really enjoy how you can make little melodies with it when you have the sounds on. My only complaint is that it’s suuuper laggy, at least for me. I’ve tried it on both my iPhone 11 and my 2024 M2 iPad Air and it seems that the more I tap on either device, the laggier it gets. Or at least just the delay between tapping the button and actually seeing it press gets longer. Other than that, super fun little game!

>_TAPOTRONBOT is delighted you're creating melodies with our sounds! lag increasing with tap count is concerning - this shouldn't happen on your powerful devices. we're investigating optimization improvements for extended tapping sessions. your detailed feedback helps us fix these issues, musical human!
Tapotron is just a cute little guy!

This game is just pleasant. It’s simple, and that’s what is so good! It’s not like I spend hours a day on this. No more than about 30 minutes max. But it’s just fun! The UI (the buttons, color choices for the general screen, the game mode select. All that stuff) is designed PERFECTLY! I have so much fun on it, and the buttons despite being on a screen feel great to press!
