There are a lot of running apps out there, but they all have something in common: they are either full of ads, are highly expensive or simply are and look very outdated.
Out-Run tries to solve this with a clean and modern look and being 100% free. In addition to that Out-Run is also one of the few running apps that do not require you to create an account, all information is stored locally and thereby protected from any data leaks or privacy scandals. And if you think: "Where is the catch?" - there is none, you can even have a look at the source code and confirm everything being said here, because Out-Run is fully open-source (source-code: https://github.com/timfraedrich/OutRun ).
# MAJOR FEATURES
- Keep full control over your data
- Record your outdoor workouts (Running, Walking, Hiking, Cycling and Skating)
- View detailed statistics
- Export your workouts as GPX or OutRun-Backup (.orbup)
- Fully customise the recording process
- Synchronise with Apple Health
I hope you love Out-Run just as much as I loved making it and if you find anything I should improve upon, please let me know.

I previously gave this app a 5-star review for being an easy-to-use and privacy-respecting fitness tracker. Generally speaking, it does what it should well and with a slick interface to boot. However, I just had the app crash on me while saving the results of a 10-hour hike through the mountains. I ended up losing the recording so I was pretty bummed. Looking at other reviews, it seems this isn’t a completely one-off occurrence. So, as much as I love the app and what it stands for in the midst of the pseudo-social media platforms that mainstream fitness trackers, I’ll likely be switching back to Strava myself to avoid running the risk of losing another big hike or run.
Great App!

I really enjoyed using Strava with all its capabilities and nice interface. However, the terrible thing about it is its lack of privacy. You can set your own privacy settings of course, but Strava has access to all your information. I thought, “Oh no! I’m going to lose stats, and have to go old school and log it all manually!” But Outrun has been a great replacement. Been walking and hiking so far and will add cycling in the summer. Outrun is totally privacy focused with a slick interface and it works really well. No crashes so far. I haven’t really tried the export feature yet so I can log my workouts in an external application but I’ll try that soon.
Clean, simple and elegant: a fantastic modern running app!

The iOS App Store is overflowing with complex “socially integrated” running and fitness apps, many of which are quasi-abandonware and/or are definitely just a mechanism for harvesting and selling user data. It’s so refreshing to see a clean, simple, well-designed running app which ignores all that nonsense and just works well. I’d love to see this include simple “couch to 5K/10K” routines since I’m just getting back into running after a long layoff, but otherwise it’s already fantastic. Kudos to the developers!
Just right 👌

Do you like advertisement loaded spy apps pretending to help people by giving them limited functionality while the good features are hidden behind a ridiculously high subscription model? Neither do I...This app is refreshingly different!Functional, clean, easy to use, pay up front, lightweight. Seriously what I want all my apps to be like! Thanks to the developer for being a good guy. Hope this one does very well for you.
It has been quite a long time since the last update and while I am still working on some more fundamental changes to OutRun this update also marks a huge step in the evolution of this app.
I am very happy to announce that OutRun will now be available in ELEVEN additional languages which brings us to a total of thirteen and all of that thanks to a few really great people, who can be found in this project's README inside the source-code repository.
Other than that not much has changed in this version:
- There is a new contributor tab in settings, listing all the people who have considerably added to OutRun
- and the source-code button was moved from 'Support' to 'App-Info'
And that is that.
