The Alert App pairs up with Embrace smartband and sends your chosen caregivers an automated SMS and phone call when Embrace detects unusual patterns that may be associated to a convulsive seizure.

The Alert App requires a dedicated smartphone with Bluetooth connectivity, and is available with a subscription plan. It is only designed to work with the Embrace smartband by Empatica (

The Alert App:
- Sends automatic calls and SMS to your caregiver when a possible convulsive seizure is detected.
- Sends your GPS location to your caregivers (when this option is activated).

With the Alert App you can:
- Review and track your seizure frequency.
- Enable caregivers throughout different periods of the day (e.g. enable teachers only for school hours).
- Disable Embrace's lights and vibration when you don't need them.
- See Embrace's status, battery, and memory levels.
- Receive notifications as soon as updates and new features are available.
- Cancel any alerts associated with events that do not require assistance.

Does its job almost too well and feels like a nuisance at times

I’ve had my Embrace for about a year and a half and I have very mixed feelings about the watch and the app combined. Don’t get me wrong I understand the whole safety aspect and appreciate what it’s trying to do but as the actual user/wearer it feels more like a nuisance than actually being helpful. The range on the Bluetooth is not great and I can’t stand being reminded every thirty seconds that it’s disconnected. The watch is so sensitive to tremors that I can’t do hardly anything with my right hand without fear of it going off and triggering a false alarm, whether it’s clapping, washing dishes, shaking out a bag, exercising, playing video games, or even shaving my face. Driving is the most annoying of them all when I have to take one hand off the wheel to avoid it going off on bumpy sections of road. And then if I don’t have time to cancel the alert or if I miss it I have people calling me and texting me like crazy to make sure I’m ok. The battery life is ok but not fantastic, and the fact that it has a strange charger means if you lose the one you have you’re kind of screwed. Finally if you don’t have any cell service or internet connection it’s kind of useless and just buzzed a lot which is a pain. Overall I think it’s a flawed product but one that could be good if changes are made to monitoring, battery life, and potential seizure detection.

Compatible on Apple Watch?

I wish this app was compatible with the Apple Watch, my daughter has the Embrace 2 but she’s only 6 so having a smartphone is impractical and she would lose it but I would like to get her the new Apple Watch that would allow her to wear it and not lose but this app doesn’t now show it’s compatible to the Apple Watch and with cellular service and GPS on the Apple Watch.

Developer Response ,

Hi, thanks for your comment! At the moment, the Alert app only works with the Embrace watch and is not compatible with the Apple watch. Your feedback is however appreciated and has been passed on for consideration. If anything changes in the nearest future, we'll let you know through our blog- We encourage you to subscribe if you haven't done so already. Many thanks!

Bluetooth won’t connect

I had this watch over a year then all of a sudden one night when I went to put this watch on it would not connect to the Bluetooth. I deleted the app reinstalled it and followed all the instructions no good . I even went as far as unpairing the watch to the iPad and putting the app on another iPad and unable to pair as the Bluetooth is not recognizing the watch YES I followed the instructions. Customer service has very limited hours of operation and no saturdays This watch is in pristine condition and only used at night to alert caregivers in case of seizure now unrecognizable to Bluetooth and unusable and customer service not reachable they say on their voicemail if urgent email …… no response
