What’s New

Version 2.12.1

Version 2.12.1 brings some very welcome quality of life improvements.

If you enjoy the app, I would really appreciate it if you could leave a review!

- You can now filter the Live Log by status
- Turning on 'Show detail' in the Query Log will now also show a view with the min/max/avg response time
- Small UI improvements
- Translation improvements for French and Spanish
- The Live Log will now respect the 'Hide HTTPS queries' setting

Version 2.12 brings a new statistic, a redesigned filter screen, support for multiple instances in widgets, and more!

You can now view a 'Forward Destinations' graph in Statistics > Graphs. This statistic has been missing for a long time but it's finally here!

*Query Log*
The filter screen has gotten quite messy after the last few updates, so I've given it a visual redesign to make it more clear. There is a new option 'Hide HTTPS queries' as these queries will always have a reply 'N/A' - so you might want to hide those to reduce clutter. The 'Number of queries' setting has gotten some extra options. Lastly, I've also redesigned the 'Show detail' option to take up way less space, try it!

A long time feature request by people with two instances is here: you can now select up to two instances in all widgets (excluding the overtime widget). The widget will then show combined statistics! To set it up, tap and hold on a widget and tap 'Edit'.

Alongside this, there are some refinements to icons, some other UI improvements, and fixes to translations.

Time to focus on iOS 15 improvements? :-)
- Joost

- Redesigned Query Log filter screen
- Redesigned Query Log when 'Show Detail' is enabled
- Additional 'number of queries' options (500, 5000, 20000)
- Some widgets now support selecting up to two instances for combined statistics
- Refined icons in Query Log
- Other minor UI improvements
- Translation fixes for French, German, Greek, and Polish

Amazing app, could be excellent

This app is a great way to view and manage your pi-hole. The design choices make everything you need up at the front of the app and it blends in well with iOS. You can view the tail of a particular IP address really easily and the details on each dns request are really helpful, allowing you to easily create blacklists. The widgets are a nice touch. So far, everything I need. There is room for improvement though; this app could be a game-changer. Group management seems to be ignored completely, including adlists. A built in whois lookup or information database about particular domains would be helpful, something similar to Little Snitch. If those changes were made, and a few small app bugs, it would be an excellent app. This is still an amazing app though, and I'm happy I found it; it will be used a lot! Thanks!

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your review! Management of groups and adlists is currently not possible due to limitations of the Pi-hole API I use. They’re working on a new API, I’m hoping that brings support for these things, then I can support it! A whois lookup is a nice suggestion, I’ll look into it. Thanks! Joost

Much better than expected

The developer has put in a lot of effort in this app and it shows. For a Pi-hole noob this app makes it so much easier to check what is being blocked and what’s not, making it so much easier to white list or blacklist as needed without needing to boot up my pc and logging into the web interface, granted that doesn’t take too much effort but this app makes it so much easier. The plots of the allowed and blocked queries are great, I like to see how %blocked goes up during weekends vs weekdays and on a workday in the evening vs during the day. Overall, it’s a great app and I recommend it to all Pi-hole owners.

Incredibly well-designed app

This is a fantastic app for controlling pi-hole. You can tell that the developer put a ton of work into this—even the smallest things are well designed, like the cool animation when you refresh the query graph. One small bug I noticed though: sometimes, for no apparent reason, when you tap and hold on a domain and select “add to whitelist” it will not automatically populate the domain field on the following “add a domain” screen with the domain you selected and you will have to manually type it in. I haven’t noticed any pattern as to when this happens. Otherwise, a fantastic app :)

Thank you!
I fixed the bug you’re describing in the v2.6 update, thanks for the feedback! 😄
