Fast breaking news - app crashes phone
Despite the frequent, annoying editing & proofreading mistakes (misspellings, repeated sentences/paragraphs, etc) and the sensationalist headlines that border on tabloid, the daily was my preferred news app because it broke news faster than any of the other well known news sources. To my surprise, the daily mail would usually report details that other news sources that took other trusted news sites hours or even days to report. After trying out numerous other news apps, the daily mail shortly became my go-to news app. I would also find the comments amusing too, if I could ignore the politically charged comments.
However, I noticed that my new iPhone started crashing & running hot recently. It would only happen when I would use the app. So I deleted & my phone was fine for weeks. Redownloaded the app & the same issues persisted.
Too bad, because I did enjoy the fast breaking news updates. And I hate to say it, but I did actually get used to the tabloid aspect of the headlines. The info inside articles turned out to be as accurate as all the major networks, so I can forgive them for that.
Fix your app, Daily Mail. I’ve run tons of apps on my phone for work, utility & recreation. None have ever gave me any issues. I don’t understand how a news app can demand so much battery & ram usage??
So, I had never even seen the daily mail prior to downloading the app. I downloaded all the news apps I could find. I wanted to see what had interesting content as well as informative. Daily mail is now my go to news site because they have the political news mixed with the salacious news stories you cannot find anywhere else. All the stories are highly, highly detailed and comprehensive often with videos and always with probably more pictures than you need, although I appreciate them as they help to put you inside the story.
This might be my second online review. I wish I didn’t like the daily mail and it was the Wall Street journal I liked better so I sound more sophisticated, but not so... anyway. Just go to the website, check out both the UK and Us sections... oh and us citizens, vote in Nov (regardless of your political leaning go vote).
Far right propaganda
Don’t believe any reviews saying this is a liberal publication, it’s the opposite. The Daily Fail has been veering further right for years, but has taken a sharp turn far right since meddling in the USA 2016 election by allowing fake comments to take the lead on all stories supporting Trump. They “moderate” any stories about Trump or international right wing politicians. While “in moderation” they only allow comments from supporters and/or obviously fake accounts. Then when the story has enough “best” comments that all appear to support a far right perspective, the story is released from moderation, thereby leading the majority of lemming readers to believe that the “best” comments actually represent what most people think. I’ve worked in social media for years, I know how to recognize and identify exactly what they are doing, and I can’t believe they are still getting away with it except who could stop them when they publish worldwide? Just know that the DM is now listed as an “unreliable” news source on Wikipedia and several other impartial monitors of news source reliability.
