Modotti brings your notes, your tasks and your AI assistant together in one place, on Mac and iPhone.
Everything you write, save and plan lives in ordinary Markdown files, in a folder you choose. No account, no Modotti server, no lock-in.
YOUR ASSISTANT PICKS UP WHERE YOU LEFT OFF
Every chat that starts from zero costs you the context you already had. In Modotti, that context lives in a folder. Connect Claude Desktop or Codex on your Mac and your assistant reads the notes you read, adds tasks to the lists you use and writes new notes where they belong. Next time, it carries on from where it stopped.
How far that goes is up to you. Reading and writing are separate permissions, per assistant. One project or all of them. Every action shows up in a local log, and access ends the moment you say so. Modotti runs no AI and sells no AI; the connector uses the assistant account you already have.

Write a note on your Mac. Add a task to your project. Tick it off on your phone. Notes and tasks live in the same app and the same folder: one click and you're in your task list, one click and you're back in your note. No second app, no second system to keep up with.

YOUR FILES STAY YOURS
Modotti writes ordinary Markdown files to a folder you choose. Open them in any text editor or Markdown app, with or without Modotti. Already have a second brain in another Markdown app? Modotti reads those same files.
ON YOUR MAC AND ON YOUR PHONE
Keep the folder on one device, or put it in iCloud under your own Apple Account. Apple handles the sync. Modotti has no sync server and never gets a copy.

Modotti is made by Marcel van der Steen, a Dutch journalist, photographer and documentary maker. After sixteen years of working mostly in the Balkans and the Arab world, he built the app he could never find: one place for all his notes and tasks, in files that stay his. Built for journalists, photographers, filmmakers and other makers whose work moves between research, notes, deadlines and tasks.

• Claude and ChatGPT now connect to Modotti without needing access to other apps' data. After the update, Modotti walks you once through updating the Connector; the folders and permissions you chose stay as they were.
• Your AI assistant can do more in your folder: add to a note, copy or move a file, and read just the part of a long file you ask about.
• A connection that stalls no longer freezes your assistant. Requests now time out cleanly, and when two things write to the same file at once, nothing gets lost silently.
• The Connector log is easier to read: time, assistant, action and file are now clearly separated, and long paths stay readable.
• On the Mac, right-click a note in the sidebar to reveal it in the Finder.
• Modotti is now also listed in Dutch on the App Store.
