I use this app every single day!

Not that long ago I dived head first into the coffee rabbit hole. I then discovered this app and have used it every day and every time that I brew. It has so many parameters you can set and it really lets you meticulously track every aspect of the journey.

I also really like how transparent the developers are. The app is open source. They show you their operating costs. They show what data that they track and the reasons why. I am a big fan of that sort of business model.

As comprehensive as the app is now, there’s a few things I would love to see implemented:

- I believe this is coming in a future update, but I would love to be able to add in pre-ground coffee and then ground coffee so I am able to see grinder retention.

- Changing the date/time of a brew would be great. Sometimes I forget to input a brew and come to it later and the date/time is incorrect.

- An option to indicate storage of your beans.

- Sometimes I freeze my beans at peak freshness and adding some sort of parameter for this would be cool, but not sure how that could be implemented.

Anyway, try this app out if you love brewing coffee!

Hello dylanriverlopez,
thanks for this lovely feedback! Great to see people enjoying this app and having great ideas to make it even better.

In the next update there will be the possibility to activate a new field put in beans weight with this the grind retention can be calculated.

Changing the date/time of a brew is already possible, please go into the parameter settings and activate custom brew time, so you can change it on the time whereever you like.

An option to indicate storage of your beans.
-> Could you please give me some more details about this via e-mail (info@beanconqueror.com)?

The thing of freezing and unfreezing is one thing asked by some people, but actually there is not enough time to implement this feature, but its already in the backlog to not get forgotten.

If you got any more information or requests, please write me an email: info@beanconqueror.com

Have great brews & the best cup possible
Lars

App works well as a journal, too buggy with scale

I have an Acaia Pearl S, and have used other apps that can use this scale with BT paring for flow rate and just help me keep consistent brews. I found this app through Reddit and thought I’d give it a try, I like it better for keeping track of my brews because it keeps grinders, grind size and other things in memory for past brews.

The issue I have is with scale paring. It’s a nightmare. The scale will disconnect and connect automatically, a pop up will appear stating that this is common with iOS devices and to just reconnect it, the issue still persists. If you don’t clear the pop-up message immediately, it will stack on top of one another and the screen will eventually go black, and you need to clear every notification to use the app again. So I just don’t use my scale, which is the main reason for the app for me. Other apps don’t have connectivity issues for me like this one does.

It would be nice for the current brew you are working on, you could save the weight of the vessel, so once you finish, just add the total weight and I’ll find the difference, but you can only do that all at once, would be a nice addition imo.

The app as a journal is pretty good though, some minor tweaks to the ui would be nice and the scale connectivity issues resolved, and it would be fantastic.

Developer Response ,

Hello Dsvist12,
thank you for your rezession and feedback.
I've written an FAQ to the Acaia Scale situation.

https://beanconqueror.gitbook.io/beanconqueror/resources/faq#my-acaia-scale-constantly-connects-and-disconnects
https://beanconqueror.gitbook.io/beanconqueror/resources/faq#no-weight-values

There are two things to mention:
1. Maybe it helps to change the heartbeat in the settings.
2. Acaia is not giving any help to an Open Source Application.
I'd be happy if you could direct contact me: info@beanconqueror.com so we can sort the issue hopefully out.

Other apps don't have the connectivity issue, because Acaia provides an SDK which Beanconqueror can use cause of the software stack.
Acaia is not willing to support like written above.

A vessle (name + weight) can already be added and be preset.
Have a look at Brewing Parameters -> Manage Parameters -> Activate "Vessle".

Like written above, I'd gladly connect with you directly, after its not possible via a comment her. To help you out.
Thanks for taking the time and have a great cup of coffee
Lars

Ben Figuly ,

I’d love to see a better recipe implementation

Love this app and how specific you can be with every variable, even water if you’re a person like me! The only thing I would really like to see at this point is a recipes tab where you can log custom recipes and then apply them to the coffees in the brews tab. I think it’s worthy of having its own tab along with “beans” and “brews”, but even just a place to log it other than the bottom notes section would be nice. I just don’t think the current system of bloom time and total brew time are specific enough.

Developer Response ,

Hello Ben Figuly,
thank you for this lovely feedback!
Great you figured out, all the extra sections to use :)

The recipe thing, is a sometimes more sometimes rarely asked feature.
Actually the workflow & use case is not driven for recipes.
Having standard "recipe" profiles with all the parameters would be one thing which would be possible.
But when it comes to recipes with pouring, stirring, swirling and so on, there is actually nothing like this build in into Beanconqueror, and also the UI/UX would need to lead the user, which would differ into complete new masks for brewing.
I'd love too hear more details from you, how and why you'd use the recipe section and also which parameters you miss to work with.

Did you already found the brew-parameter section where you can enable multiple parameters? And the possibility to overwrite them by each preparation method?

Actually there a lot of things in backlog which come before the recipe implementation like connection to Visualizer, or more pressure-bluetooth devices.

I'd love to receive an e-mail for further discussion: info@beanconqueror.com
Have just the best cup of coffee possible!
Lars
