Devs, there’s still a bug that persists when you add an album to your library only for you to realize that the metadata is wrong. Upon deleting the album and correcting the metadata on your PC, foobar2000 still shows two entries for the same album, just (slightly) different metadata. Seems the only fix is reinstalling the app but it should not work that way.
Just what I was looking for

After dropping my mp3 player down a stairwell, I was hoping for an app that would allow the (256 GB) SD card (I had in the player) to be (via a card reader dongle) the music file location. (VCL media player, for example, requires the files to be stored on the device). I didn't want to pay for a subscription to gain this capability. This app did not come up on an app store search; I had to learn about it through one of those "best music player apps" web pages. That it's free adds to the blessing!
Great app! Just a few things

I loveeee foobar; easy folder sharing, detailed playback controls, the layout, I could go on. Of course there’s always something the public wants to complain abt (that’s me I’m the public) I would recommend adding a queue and upgrading the shuffle feature so you can just click shuffle on a playlist and it’ll start playing instead of having to click on a song first then shuffle. Other than that keep up the great work! 🙏🏾
Crashes irrecoverably when you delete music

In general it's a good music player once you figure out how to add music files to its library. However I tried deleting a folder from the library (via foobar2000 music folder / select folder / long press / delete) and this causes the app to crash. After restarting it crashes again after a few seconds. Only way to recover is to delete the app, delete the music via finder or the files app, then reinstall the app and re-copy music files into its library. But apart from this it's pretty good for a free app.
Fixed a bug in library indexing that causes Album Gain values not to be read into the database.
To correct missing ReplayGain info, folders must be forcibly reindexed, by disabling & re-enabling in library settings.
Made current live console log downloadable via FTP server.
Fixed some rare crash bugs.
