Embed Metadata with the Frames Mac App
The Frames macOS companion app is where your analog photography workflow comes full circle. After developing and scanning your negatives, use the Mac app to reintegrate your logged metadata directly into your scanned image files as EXIF data. Compatible with JPEG, TIFF, and DNG files from any film scanner.
This means your scanned negatives carry the full context of how they were shot: camera, lens, film stock, shutter speed, aperture, and geolocation, all embedded permanently into the file. Your Lightroom library, photo archive, and any EXIF-compatible software will display your analog photography metadata just like a digital camera would.
No more spreadsheets. No more handwritten notes on the back of prints. Just a complete, consistent film photography record that travels with every image.
Designed for Every Film Format
Whether you shoot 35mm, medium format 120 film, or large format sheet film, Frames adapts to your workflow:
- Log individual frames on a 35mm roll
- Track exposures on a 120 roll
- Document each sheet in a large format session
Frames is built around how analog photographers actually work, not how digital workflows assume you do.
Designed for Analog Photographers
- Follows Apple's Human Interface Guidelines for a smooth, intuitive experience
- Optimized performance on all iPhone models including older devices
- No distractions, no account required, no compromise on craft

I recently got back into film photography. Of course film lacks all of the meta data associated with digital something I wish all of my old negatives and slides had. I bought a notebook to record various information but who wants to mess with paper and pen. Then I found Frames. Super convenient and easier accessible. Yes it takes time to stop and record the data but who goes into shooting with film to hurry up. I wanted to slow down. IMHO, this is a necessary tool for film photographers. And Vincent is very responsive to your comments and suggestions.
Super useful
ruffinge
Incredibly useful for tracking metadata for film photography, especially with the ability to embed that metadata on the Mac app to the scanned photos. The developer is also super responsive to feedback and suggestions.
Fixed a crash on launch related to gallery's preview generation affecting users with older iPhone models.
Capture settings can now be customized on any film roll screen.
Focal length can now be adjusted directly from the toolbar for zoom lenses.
