Description

The cleanest way to read Hacker News — lightning-fast, fully native, and built with accessibility in mind.

Hackers is the best way to browse Hacker News on iPhone and iPad. It’s fast, beautiful, and thoughtfully accessible — designed to keep you in the flow of reading and discussion.

• Effortless reading. Clean typography and a distraction-free layout put the content first.
• Made for long threads. Collapse, expand, and navigate nested comments with a tap — or swipe to move through deep conversations without losing your place.
• Swipe to act. Vote on posts and comments with simple, familiar gestures.
• All the essentials. Thumbnails on posts, quick jump to comments, in-thread link handling, and blazing-fast feed pagination.
• Native to the core. Universal iPhone & iPad app, Safari View Controller for articles, iPad multitasking, Share Extension (“Open in Hackers”), and great performance.
• Accessibility first. Dynamic Type, VoiceOver-friendly structure, high-contrast themes, and careful focus order make Hackers comfortable for every reader.
• Open source. Transparent by design — explore the code, file issues, and contribute on GitHub.

Why Hackers?
• A decade of refinement focused on a simple goal: make Hacker News feel great on iOS.
• Privacy-respecting. The app collects no data. Period.

Hackers is an open source project, check it out on GitHub: https://github.com/weiran/Hackers

Excellent

My favorite way to browse HN by far.

One kind of annoying thing: tapping on a link inside of a comment will immediately open the link in a different view, even if I’m just trying to scroll past it and accidentally tap on it. I think it should probably open the link only if you tap and release on the tap target, not just tap. Forgive me if I’m explaining it strangely.

Nice overall with small complaint

Very nice app, looks very polished with black mode. One problem — the app is too sensitive to sideways movements when scrolling up or down. This results in either the left or night options being pulled from the side rather than actually scrolling. I’ve never experienced this on another app so don’t feel it’s just the way I scroll? It enough creates minor friction with enough frequency to move to another app unfortunately.

Exactly what I was looking for

I don’t write a review often but when I do it’s because I either really like something or I really don’t like it. In this case, this app is what I needed: simple, easy to use, and free/no ads. You should get it now if you’re on the fence.
