Analyse detailed graphs of your heart rate to help understand how your body is changing over time. No subscription, no accounts; your data stays safe on your device.
Knowing your current heart rate is useful, but seeing in real time how it varies over a longer period tells you much more, especially when you want to understand how your body is responding to a training plan. Heart Graph suits all types of aerobic exercise including running, cycling, rowing or gym work, or everyday heart rate monitoring for general health.
Heart Graph records new data and shows your heart rate graph in real time, and also imports existing data from Apple Health. Compare previous sessions to see how your body is changing over time: directly compare the graphs of equivalent sessions, view statistics such as max, mean and resting heart rate across sessions, or see the time spent in each heart rate zone aggregated over weeks or months. (Note some features require a one-off In-App Purchase, as described below.)
FREE features of Heart Graph include:
* Display a real-time graph of heart rate against time on your iPhone or iPad
* Support for Bluetooth sensors, Apple Watch and AirPods
* No ads
* Review your sessions offline to spot trends in your data
* Integration with Apple Health: import existing workout data or a chosen time period of up to 24 hours, and store new workouts
* Maximise the graph area on iPhone using landscape orientation
* Group related sessions with your own notes, then search for sessions matching those notes
* Record a standard Reference Set at the start of each session to see how your body is really doing; if your heart rate is elevated, take it easy
* Record data in the background if you want to use other heart rate apps (Bluetooth sensors)
* Calculate calories burned, and set a calorie target for each session
Beyond the basics, a single, one-off In-App Purchase enables the Premium Features: more in-depth analysis tools and the ability to design your training sessions in the app. Planned Workouts split a session into small pieces, for example sets at the gym or intervals on a bike. As you exercise, Heart Graph keeps track of where you are in the session and what’s coming up next, alerting you when it’s time to stop or move on. The trigger for the next set can be a simple time gap (“wait 30 seconds”) or based on heart rate to allow recovery before continuing (“wait until heart rate is below 120bpm”), giving a structured plan that adapts to how your body is responding each time.
Premium Features include:
* View and analyse the time spent in each of five configurable heart rate zones
* Add annotations to the graph, during recording or at any time afterwards, to help identify key events
* Heart rate alarms when your heart rate changes zone or goes above or below configurable thresholds
* Spoken heart rate at regular intervals or on zone changes, so you needn't watch the screen
* Directly compare graphs for equivalent sessions
* Sync your sessions between your iPhone and iPad via iCloud Drive
* Automatically import new workouts and a chosen time period every day from Apple Health, or bring in months of past data in one go
* Compare statistics (such as max, mean and resting heart rate) across sessions
* Record a session to explicitly measure resting heart rate while you relax
* Audio rep counting - the app keeps count so you never lose track
* Import Garmin TCX and GPX format files
* Export data to TCX, Polar HRM or CSV files for further analysis, e.g. in Excel
* Export one or more sessions as a PDF, complete with summary, heart rate graph and a table of your annotations, ready to share or print
Heart Graph requires an external sensor to record heart rate, such as:
* A Bluetooth (BTLE) sensor such as the Wahoo Trackr / Polar H10 chest straps, or Mio Alpha watch
* An Apple Watch or AirPods Pro 3
* An ANT+ sensor connected using the Wahoo Key

If you are at all interested in tracking your heart rate during workouts, this app is for you. You can use default heart rate zones based on your age or if you feel those aren’t appropriate you can customize your zones. With the auto-import feature, workouts you start on your Apple Watch will show up in this app and workouts you start in the Heart Graph app will show up in your iPhone activity app. For every workout you can see a beautiful color coded graph of your heart rate showing what zones you were in and if you swipe the data area at the top of the graph you can see exactly how much time you spent in each zone. Once you’ve accumulated some workouts, the analysis function will show you how much time you’ve spent in each zone on a weekly and monthly basis. I’m 67 so theoretically my max heart rate is 153. I was hitting 165 in workouts with my trainer and then feeling totally wiped out for the next day or two. Heart Graph to the rescue. I used the alarm feature to warn me when I get to 145 heart rate so I can dial back my effort and keep my heart rate below 150. Now I get a great workout without feeling ill afterwards. I absolutely love this app. I have to warn you, when I first got the app I found it a bit confusing, but it didn’t take long to get the hang of it. Just have a bit of patience, play around with the features and you will be well rewarded. I recommend shelling out the $3 for the premium version immediately. It’s less than a cup of coffee at Starbucks and it’s a one time charge, not a monthly fee. Some of the features I mentioned above are only in the premium version so it’s well worth the price.
It helped me discover and manage a heart condition

I love love love this app. I paired it with my Polar H10 as some post covid woes left me with a condition I discovered called PEM for short. Through this app, I found out I also had POTS which was later diagnosed but it keeping tabs on my heart rate has been awesome. With POTS and PEM, I have only used the app to alert me when my heart is over a specific BPM threshold so I can be alerted when to sit and rest. You can adjust a minimum heart rate as well which can also be used to alert you but I personally only have the higher end toggled on. I have used this a few times for exercising too but given my conditions- I don’t do that very often. You can set thresholds on heart though and it pings you when you go from your heart mildly working to moderately working to working hard is the simplest way I can put it. I can’t live without this monitor. It’s helped me manage my conditions. I’m also a huge privacy advocate so seeing on the App Store that this app does not sell any of your data is an absolute bonus to me. Health monitoring is absolutely private information and I am thankful the developers seem to agree with this as well. Highly recommend.
Almost there !

This app es excellent for tracking your HR during your exercise. Super important if you are working on a HR Zone program. It’s very reliable, I am pairing it withq the Polar H10, and works perfect, already tested more than 30 work outs, not a single fail. I would have given all five stars, if it had a more detailed calorie burning calculation. It does not give you a breakdown between active and rest calories and it seems like the calculation is not adaptive like the one in the fitness app in apple. The calories reported are always overcalculated, despite it has my correct personal info, weight age etc,…**Update. The developer responded to my review which immediately makes me think they genuinely want to make a good product. I have raised the stars to 4, because the performance is immaculate. No issues at all. I still find it annoying about the calorie calculation. I understand there are so many methods , but to me it’s about consistency. And for all day long activity I am hostage to the cal calculation apple makes, so I wish this app would have a way for me to stay consistent. For now, I use it for monitoring my zones during the workout, but not for calorie calculation, which makes me start another session in the apple workout, and I have to run two sessions, that is annoying

Thanks for your feedback. To clarify how Heart Graph calculates calories: if you use an Apple Watch, we use the calories calculated by Apple. For Bluetooth sensors, we use the formula from Keytel et al., https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15966347/ for which you can find free PDF copies online. While Keytel does make some assumptions, at least those are clear, with the formula being based on real data; this is unlike nearly all other calorie calculations from other apps, which are a black box with no shared details or evidence.
Life changing, and easy to use fo people who workout
Pinklifehandbook
I purchased the paid version and have been using it for years now. I was a new runner and needed to make sure I was exercising in the right zones. Everything I need is available any simple to use in the user interface face. For example I can see my heart rate sent from my Apple Watch and it’s classified by work out. For example one might say cycle or it might say strength training or it might say yoga. If I don’t like the default name I can change it. I can compare my heart rate graph between several workouts. I can see the detailed graph for one workout and also look at the time spent in each HR zone. I can use default settings or customize my HR zones. Seeing this data is valuable. I will admit their are other apps now that can do the same and more. For example I recently bought a Whithings scale that comes with the free healthmate app and it keeps all my data from multiple sources in one place. As a result I don’t use this HR app much at all anymore. However if you don’t already have a universal app and all you need is detailed HR tracking then this is the one for you.
