MediBang Paint for iPad 12+

I’ve tried both Procreate and MediBang, their brush engines are vastly different but MediBang wins! MediBang feels like Paint Tool Sai, which I love. It makes cleaner, sharper lines than Procreate does for me. It’s less overwhelming than Procreate. I love Procreate but I use MediBang a lot more for my drawing. I love their brush engine on the iPad. I love the look and feel of their brushes and it’s a lot simpler to use. Procreate just has too many options.... can an app be too customizable? Anyway, I recommend this app to anyone coming from paint tool sai. It’s like a mobile version with how similar it feels. The bonus? I can start on my laptop and move to iPad, which I often do because I find I enjoy drawing on iPad more. I look forward to seeing how much further MediBang can go on the iPad. I hope they develop it further. It’s free and it’s worth it. I love it so much that I’d actually pay real money for a subscription if they ever offer it. Because development takes money. I’d love to see MediBang go further on all platforms. Five stars for a clean, simple, and easy to use drawing app. I’ve tried all the popular favorites so when I say MediBang wins, it wins!

They are causing a lot of problems with my screen. The ads would frequently freeze my screen and wouldn’t let me save. To clear the ads button is too small. It really annoys when it pops up when I turn my iPad. Sometimes when I go from horizontal to vertical screen the close button wouldn’t be seen unless I flip it again. I cannot even take a break from ads when exporting or saving my art. I would accidentally click an ad, while drawing. Then a whole dam screen or website would pop up. This is really annoying because I find these ads as unsecured. Wish the app would ask you if you wanted to be guided to there.

The ads are not a dealbreaker, since I have unbelievable tolerance with laggy games and frequent ads in so many apps. I actually think this app went desperate with ads. Way before like 10years ago ads, ads would only pop up in the beginning of entering your canvas and would have a small ad on top of where you drew. Sometimes this ad would not be visible or distracting. Way before 10years I slightly recall no ads.

I have to say this app had had some upgrades with their saving system. It is less painful when you forget to manually save it or accidentally closed canvas. I don’t have that app shutdown on me anymore, because it was broken. I honestly would had liked if the canvas was shared across all devices. Sometimes I would like to work on my phone instead of iPad. I am also utterly sad that I unable to recover old art too.

It saves a lot slower, video ads might be contributing to that a bit. Either way I really don’t like the addition of video ads. For some reason one of the updates turned the app I had on my tablet into the phone app, which caused a lot of problems, including my inability to update the app without uninstalling and re-installing it, which led me to have to put every single one of my pieces to the cloud, which took hours. Not only due to how many files I had and their sizes, but primarily because it already takes super long to upload even one piece to the cloud. And that also applies to just saving changes to and closing it. This is the main reason why I didn’t already have all my art in the cloud. Now there’s the new premium membership version that we all knew was inevitable, and I would buy it if I was sure my main problems would be fixed instead of some flashy new features like a reference board and custom textures. I’m still giving this a 4/5 because this is still the best free art app I've found and the good definitely outweighs the bad. Just, please fix these glaring issues that have come up as well as the old ones. I would probably buy the “creative pack” if those were fixed.
