I really want to like this app, but it is riddled with bugs that get in the way of the creative process. I came from making music in Ableton but wanted to try out some of the cool apps on iPad (like the Moog stuff). So I needed a DAW on the iPad to really make use of the cool music apps. I tried Cubasis and really dug the experience. The only thing missing for me were warp markers. Enter Auria Pro, which has that feature. $50 was a steep price, but I paid it after reading many glowing reviews. After diving into the app, I soon learned just how buggy it truly is. Want to adjust the tempo after working in a song? You may very well screw up the placement of MIDI notes if you do. The ONE Dev--THE ONE DEV FOR THIS $50 APP--suggests the best practice for dealing with this known issue is to start the song out with the tempo you'll use. Really?! Every other DAW lets you change the tempo at any time, but with Auria, it's a crapshoot if you try. And then the recorded audio tracks are always muting out with a popping glitch. So you got to restart the app. Pros? I like the sounds in the sampler. The piano is nice, as are the marimba and the drums. Side note on the drums within the sampler... If you want to build your own custom drum kit, you've got do it using a word pad or an app on your computer to create an sfz file. It works, but it's a bit cumbersome compared to the ability within Cubasis or fl studio to drop in the one shots of your choice. Honestly, I can live with that if this app were more stable, but sadly it is not. Overall, I've had a bad experience with Auria Pro.
High Hopes

I had high hopes for this daw, however I am running into a bit of issues. When turning up or turning down volume on the mixer, it’s not showing the levels, it’s staying at one consistent level even though I can hear levels are going up and down. This is very frustrating considering mixing is very visual. So there’s that issue. Also things seems very buggy, buttons get hit without me tapping it. Tracks are not syncing or staying together even when I have the multi tool selected. I can see what they are trying to do but they are a lot of issues. Also have registered my email and still haven’t received what I’m was told i would. Have been debating between this and the other go to daw out there for about three weeks, went with this one for the fabfilter plug ins (which you still have to pay for, thought they came with it. Not upset they don’t tho, I understand. Honestly so far I don’t see the big hoopla and feel kinda screwed, I bought for myself for my birthday (it’s on Thursday);and ehh, just not too happy. I will continue to try to make it work for me. But maybe this isn’t for everyone, or maybe I’m experiencing some issues others aren’t. But to not visually see my audio in the mixer is wack af.
This app needs a new life!

This is a good app that has become plagued with real problems. I cannot help but think that the company has partially abandon the app (it is still updated sometimes, but nothing major). At this point, beyond its many bugs, it needs some serious feature updates to keep par with other current offerings. It feels like they may be preparing for a new version soon, or something, as the app has been in a holding pattern for a while (updates to keep it sort of working, without really updating the apps abilities). So maybe they have some surprises for us in the future. However, as it stands now, this app is not up to snuff for serious work. I hope this situation changes, this app should be the best of what’s out there, as it stands– It just isn’t.

This is like protocols, it is made for engineers and it’s workflow is more of an engineering mind than a creators mind(Cubasis). But, as an artist, I like the fact that it function like a desktop DAW and has the best feature of them all, AAF export. I can’t capture ideas in Auria Pro and export them to LUNA on my desktop. Cubasis can do it but limits me to Cubase on the desktop. Cubasis has an easier workflow and some good plugins that can be purchased. It seems Auria has the basics eq/compression built in. Auria Pro also gets the bus routing right for making refined mixes. Although the file manage,ent is cumbersome..anyone who spends a few weeks using Auria will figure out how to get everything to feel free flowing. Like with most things, if you spend the time you will learn to be creative with all that you are able to do. What is limiting or what you can’t do isn’t as powerful as what you can do. Less is more. Use this within your device’s capabilities. I’d give five stars but…I’d want a better file management option. Excellent software.
