This is a wonderful app and it has been extremely useful to me in learning to play the violin. The musical soundtracks are of the highest quality and they are just as good if not better than the performances that are available by well known orchestras on CD. I am inclined to think that they are better. The ability to slow down pieces and loop parts of the score is very helpful. I also like having the ability to annotate the score with my own fingerings, etc. and then being able to print out the annotated score. Since I also play the mandolin, I often work out a piece first on the mandolin and then go work on it with the violin. Since the violin and the mandolin use the same tuning of strings, this means that of you can read violin music, you can also read mandolin music. Tomplay might want to think about adding mandolin to their list of instruments. With their violin scores and backing tracks they would only have to remove the violin track and replace it with someone playing the very same score on the mandolin. With the mandolin though you would have to learn how to do the tremelo or double picking effect on the mandolin. Tomplay also lets you provide suggestions for new songs that they can add to their inventory. I recently suggested a song and they produced an excellent score and orchestra background track for it. I can now play along with one of my favorite songs which is “Over The Rainbow”. Thanks to the people of Tomplay for producing what is in my opinion the best musical score, learning and play along app available anywhere. Luman Ferrell
Really takes the edge off of the pandemic shut down
Matt Springer
I am very glad that I discovered Tomplay. Like many people, I am an orchestra musician who has not been able to play with other people in person since the shutdown begin. Virtual performances are interesting but you’re not playing with other people at the same time. Some of these Tomplay pieces really get you almost there; especially chamber pieces like string quartets. Some of the accompaniments have very synthesized or distorted sound quality, but others sound quite good, and playing the chamber ensemble pieces with the music playing directly from my iPad, despite not being the best speakers in the world, was better than putting an earpiece in my ear because it’s more realistic to have the sound coming from outside. The first time I played a Beethoven string quartet this way, it was such a realistic experience that when I screwed up, I actually instinctively apologized to the virtual people in my iPad! And I have to say, when I got to the end of that first one, I think I got a little emotional… Ludwig would’ve been happy. It’s not perfect, but I’m giving it five stars anyways just because it fills such an important hole.

Thanks for your comment. We are happy to hear that you have a great time playing with our interactive music scores. We are currently working on re-recording some older music scores, but the process takes some time, specially with some studios closing or in limited capacity for Covid reasons. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to flag us any quality issue you notice from your side https://tomplay.com/contact
Take your playing to the next level
Dave (alto sax)
This app is a great learning tool. Saxophone is my instrument and Tomplay gives me access to great songs, new and old favorites with the choice of the key signature being easy to difficult. This really helped me go to the next playing level. At first, I had a very difficult time with key signatures with 5 or 6 flats or sharps, and I thought you had to be semi professional to play these songs well. I wanted to sound as good as the lead sax on the Tomplay soundtracks that is included with the app, so I forced myself to play the advanced level. If I had some trouble with a different rhythm or playing notes, I would use the looping feature to select the different passage, and I can slow down the in app metronome so that I could learn it properly. I’ve been using Tomplay for 18 months now, and I can play my favorite songs so well that I almost can’t believe it. Needless to say that I am very proud of myself. Thank you Tomplay for the opportunity to the huge selection of great music and all the learning tools that are included with the app. Thank you very much,Dave S.

It’s fun!!
cello junkie guy
It’s nice being able to hear the music as well as reading the notes to focus on nuances as one learns a new piece of music. Lots of features here that help the musician out, like being able to slow things down, choose what instruments one would like to hear and being able to record and annotate different fingerings and things. I’m both a cellist and classical guitarist so it’s nice to be able to find new music to work on in different areas, and the subscription is great for being able to just download new songs without even thinking about paying for song by song. The downside that I see is that the sound quality is compromised when slowing down a piece, but I am working off an old iPad for now until a new model arrives in a few days- keep in mind an iPad 4 may not cut the mustard here, and then of course one could also be like me and download lots of songs, play all day and still feel like there’s so much to work on!! But then again, that’s also what makes it fun, by having so much to look forward to practicing. Good times, and I’m happy I downloaded this app
