I downloaded this app about a year ago and if I reviewed it then it would of got a 1 Star too. But come to find out I was just looking for art in the wrong place. As in any collectors world you have to dig and dig to find the good stuff. & I have made 10s of thousands of dollars just using this app. 5 star hands down
Great concept. Doesn’t work...

This would be at least a 4 Star app if it actually did what it said. I wonder if they just stopped investing/developing in it? Several days ago I input photos and information about pieces of artwork that were passed down to my wife and I, apparently of some value by relatively famous painters (albeit unknown to us). The app advertises the ability to have art history experts identify and provide information about works in your personal collection. As I submitted them, individual experts with their names and photos were displayed, stating that they would receive my artwork and have it added to their lists for review shortly. It went so far as to provide a specific, down to the second, timer of when the experts will receive the item to identify (maybe a red flag and a little too cute for reality). Days have gone by and have heard no updates at all to suggest that anything is actually happening. Have heard others having the same issue - submitting artwork only to never hear anything back. Until such time as the features actually work, they should either pull the app or put a disclaimer that it does not work as advertised...
Very limited functionality

In theory this is a great idea but the app needs a lot of further development. The developer probably should've worked on a beta version with industry professionals before launching. 9 out of the 10 attempts at recognizing artwork (all my major contemporary artists) failed. What's nice is they have people research the works that can't be recognized. Problem is, when I received notification that the works/artists had been identified, there was no way to find them in the app (it said in a count at the top that I had 10 artists but only the one that had been initially identified actually appeared). The map is a nice feature for locating galleries and lists what's on view. However, there's no preview or additional information that populates in app. You have to search google for additional info about the exhibitions, which isn't terribly, just annoying. For NYC, there are far more in-depth online galleries guides that do the same thing but in a self-contained and convenient interface. The "critics picks" are also a nice feature, in theory. The curious thing about this feature -- a Tumblr style feed -- is that there are little 'plus' marks for users to mark the selections that might be of interest but it doesn't save them to a list for future reference. This effectively makes the marking option a moot feature. If it worked like Shazam, had ways of saving artists and galleries of interest in lists , provided relevant information (such as the Artsy app, which is wonderful and full of useful info), had a search feature that allowed for searching artists rather than just galleries, and was self-contained, I'd definitely use it.
Total crap!

This app doesn't work on Starry Night, Andy Warhol's Marilyn, nor the Mona Lisa. I tried works while in MoMA and it didn't work for anything in there all very recognizable works. If it is true what the reviewer above said about the NY Times giving it a glowing review I now think the NY Times is garbage too. How in the world did any writer feel inspired to publish anything on this app? I read about it in Art Info, I now feel like they got a press release about it and wrote a little blurb about it without even bothering to download it and try it out. It's free but that doesn't make me have any grace toward the developers, way more testing show of been done before revealing this under baked app.
• Complete relaunch after 7 years with a rebuilt recognition engine
• Significantly faster and more accurate artwork identification
• Improved matching for gallery and exhibition works
• Faster performance and stability improvements
