UPDATE***- I was in contact with Mike at Buoycast and advised him of the issue I had with some of the areas in Alaska and within a day it was fixed and has worked great since. Great customer service. I would recommend this app to any boater in Alaska (and elsewhere).Previous 3 star review:My main reason for getting the app is to quickly check wind speed and sea swells so I can plan trips. When I open the app, I’d say about half the time that data is not present and I have to go on the NOAA website. Then, when it is present, and I cross reference it to the NOAA website, about 25% of the time it shows rougher seas than the website. So I’m a bit annoyed. I’m going off the seas for the NOAA website this weekend to see who’s right (hoping the website). 3 stars because: Everything else is accurate and consistently works. Would have 5 stars if it fixed what I stated above.

This is a great product, and the creator is extremely helpful. I’ve been using this for a couple years now, and it’s awesome to have all the info in one spot w/ nice interface. Had an issue last week, with the forecast not updating. Sent an email to the app creator, he immediately fixed the problem and let me know via email. Very helpful, would recommend!

Buoycast is a great product made better with their outstanding support. Less than 12 hours after I reported issues with the app not showing any data for 4 nearby buoys they were fixed. After upgrading to the latest version an issue with 2 buoys was fixed with in 4 hours!

I live on a peninsula at the confluence of multiple straits and the winds can be strong and come from any direction. This app allows me to check the forecast based on the closest buoy and even better, get notifications of wind advisories. This allows me and my family to make sure windows are closed and outdoor furniture is secure before the wind hits.
