Limited Feature, Unusuable OCR Output

The two sample operations did not allow a fair evaluation of the app. I opted for the monthly sub, but I will cancel. It assembles, splits, reorganizes as advertised, but its limited feature set has me wondering how much of it is coded or if its just an assemblage of basic calls to the system software components: the OCR text output is worse than what you can copy from a screen image capture in the MacOS, the PDF editing is limited to rudimentary tools that look straight out of MS Draw '95—there is no adjustment for contrast, light/dark, skew. Skew! If your sheet feeder is anything like mine you're getting slightly slanted text. If your scanner did not auto correct, this app won't fix it. But that lack of text output formats is unforgivable. DOCX is all you get and that took two attempts to get a file that would open. The resulting text output was baffling: "maintained" became "inaintained." The algorithm is dumb, there's no error correction. Terrestrial -> Terrehtrial. disappointment -> dissappoiñment. I'll say. For some reason the app added a tilde to numerous lowercase "n"s. For accurate text output it would be faster to type it yourself. Maybe this app was someone's hard work? It feels like shareware, if you can remember that far back, and certainly not worth the asking price.

I love pdf is one of the greatest free app or site I have ever used in my entire life, when COVID-19 hit, the entire school was relying on this app and site and guess what? I took my AP Statistics test using this thing, I feel like college board should pay these people, but you know what I mean? The website is great. I’ve used it free for sometime. The app is clumsy. 6.4.20 - I purchased the “premium” via the web using my credit card. It said “cancel anytime money back guarantee” so I bought it with the intent of accessing it over the next few days. I’m forced to work from home due to Covid-19 and was looking for a tool to add my signature to documents for processing to the Finance Dept. After I purchased the “Premium” with the “money back guarantee” I found out they lied. You can never get your money back. The refund terms on the website says there are no refunds for cancellations. The very opposite of how they’re marketing the product. I can understand why a website may not offer refunds. However, I cannot respect a company that deceives people into purchasing their products just to make sales; especially in the midst of a pandemic. It’s unethical.

The website is great. I’ve used it free for sometime. The app is clumsy. 6.4.20 - I purchased the “premium” via the web using my credit card. I signed up for iLovePDF Premium expecting a streamlined PDF workflow, but the product is surprisingly frustrating to use. Almost every action exports a new file, forces you into a new folder, and breaks your workflow by opening new tabs and restarting the process. Instead of allowing compound actions or efficient editing, it constantly generates multiple versions of the same file. It turns what should be simple tasks into a cluttered, inefficient mess.The interface also feels oddly rigid compared to other modern PDF tools. Even basic usability things—like being able to move the toolbar to the right side to match common design patterns—aren’t available.What really pushed this into one-star territory was the billing experience. The service advertises “cancel anytime” and implies satisfaction guarantees, but when I asked to cancel shortly after subscribing because the product didn’t meet expectations, they refused to refund the annual payment. Instead, support simply pointed me to the terms and conditions.That combination of clunky workflow design + inflexible billing practices makes this feel pretty disingenuous. There are far better PDF tools out there that respect both your time and your customers.I canceled and won’t be coming back.
