This is a bit of a cleanup update: • Removed ads, now all users can experience a beautiful ad-free experience (Premium is still available for users who want to change the icon and support the app, but the price has been reduced). • Removed ability to edit time of day range names and descriptions. • Improved compatibility with iOS 12 and future-proofed certain components. • As of this version, FoodEase requires iOS 12 (older versions of FoodEase will continue working on older iOS versions).

Announcing the latest major update to FoodEase! (It’s been a while, hasn’t it?) This update includes a brand new feature to help you get to the destination quicker, makes the app more accessible for all users, and includes tons of improvements and bug fixes! Ride Sharing ========= • Introducing support for ride sharing apps Lyft and Uber! • From the map screen, tap the car button to see the list of available rides from your location to the suggested place. • Select your desired ride and then continue in the corresponding app to order it and be on your way! • From Settings, you can select whether to show Lyft or Uber rides (or install either app if you don’t have one). • You can even access the ride sharing list from the home screen by 3D Touching the FoodEase icon. Accessibility ========= This is a hugely important addition to FoodEase—one that I’ve neglected for far too long. As of this version FoodEase will support a number of iOS accessibility features to make the app usable by everyone. This update adds or improves support for: • VoiceOver • Dynamic Type • Darker Colors • Reduce Transparency • Smart Invert Colors Accessibility is very important to me so if any of these features aren’t enabled in a way that allows you to effectively use FoodEase please let me know! I will be improving or adding support for more accessibility features over time. Improvements and Bug Fixes ==================== And finally, some improvements and fixes to add polish to the app: • Added haptic feedback to more buttons throughout the app for a more satisfying experience. • 3D Touch widget has been updated to include an icon showing what time of day range is currently active. • Improved loading spinner animation. • Improved error messages, especially when there’s no internet connection. • Improved the appearance of the minimized main view when a place has not been loaded yet. • Renamed action to erase all data in Settings (and made the label red). • Fixed places that weren’t loading in the bookmarks list. • Fixed some issues with loading new places after an error was displayed. • Fixed some typos and improved wording in some areas. It’s been a while since I’ve sent out an update (I’ve been quite busy recently) but this one adds a new feature for Premium users, and improves things for everyone else! Alternate App Icons! =============== • Premium users can now change the app icon to a different color. • Now you can customize the look of the app on your home screen by selecting one that matches your other apps more closely. • Go to Settings > Premium > Change App Icon to pick your favorite one! (is it avocado? tomato? lemon lime?) • Note: requires upgrade to Premium. Fixes and Improvements ================== • Place images should now load faster. • Added an action to arrival notifications that allows you to turn them off, right from the lock screen. • Fixed some bugs related to arrival notifications. • Fixed some more typos.

This is a small update with some minor fixes: • Fixed issue that caused route to not appear when launching FoodEase from the 3D Touch widget. • Fixed issue that caused suggestions to not refresh when critical settings were changed. • Fixed typos in a couple of places. This update also includes the app rating dialog introduced in iOS 10.3 so you may occasionally see a prompt asking for a rating or review. I tried to make it as non-intrusive as possible and requests are limited to 3 per year. I hope you take the time to give a star rating if it pops up since it helps a lot! —Paolo

This update is relatively minor but there are some bigger features on the way! Multiple Images ============ • You can finally see up to 3 images for each place! • When a place appears, swipe the image to see more. • The dots underneath show how many images are available. Fixes and Improvements ================== • Huuuge improvement in image blurring performance when swiping the place card up and down. Faster, smoother, less crashes. • Improved performance when loading images. • Behind the scenes cleanup and performance improvements to prepare for future updates.

This is a relatively minor update, with some more behind the scenes improvements. Updated Today Extension =================== • Today extension (3D Touch widget) performance has been greatly improved. • Improved reliability: If a suggestion has already been shown in the main app, the widget displays that suggestion. If not, the widget performs the search and displays a result just as the main app does. • Improved display of error messages. Fixes and Improvements ================== • Fixed issue that caused multiple Arrival Notifications to appear for the same place. • As part of Today extension update, main app now saves suggestion for faster loading time. If you have moved far from the original search location, or a significant amount of time has passed, the saved suggestions will be refreshed automatically.

Happy 2018! This update contains a couple new features and fixes: Arrival Notifications ============== • FoodEase will now keep track of your location in the background if you select a place (Thumbs Up button). The device’s status bar will be blue to indicate that location is being tracked. • There is now an option to receive a notification when you have arrived at the selected location, if the device is locked or the app is in the background. That way you don’t need to keep FoodEase open while you’re navigating to the selected place! • To turn on Arrival Notifications, go to Settings > Notifications. On-boarding Tutorial =============== • An on-boarding tutorial has been added for new users of the app. • If you have already started using FoodEase you won’t see this at startup. • You can always go back to see the tutorial by going to Settings > View Tutorial. Fixes and Improvements ================== • Improved the performance of the image blurring when sliding the suggestion card down to view the map. • Fixed crash that occurred if a user blocked every place that came up in the list of suggestions. • Fixed display of open times for places that close during the day and reopen later on (e.g. closes at 2pm, reopens at 4pm). • Several minor appearance improvements. • Tons of behind the scenes code reorganization and clean up—this is to set the stage for a few major features coming in the next few updates! Here’s another quick update to see you through the holidays! Yelp Reviews ========== • Finally! Along with other place information such as hours and address you can now see up to 3 Yelp reviews for each location! • Reviews show the user who posted it, the rating, and an excerpt of the text they wrote. • Tap on a review to open it in Yelp and read the full text. • Reviews can be accessed by tapping the Details dots in the bottom right corner of the main screen. Bug Fixes and Improvements ===================== • Added the ability to upgrade to FoodEase Premium from the App Store with promoted In-App Purchases. • Fixed more layout issues. • Fixed the background colors so they’re more consistent throughout the app. • Improved support for Smart Invert Colors. • Improved support for Dynamic Type (auto-resizing fonts when the system font is changed in the Settings app). • Updated networking calls to take advantage of Yelp API updates (this will not affect the experience in any way). Lots of bug fixes and improvements: • Fixed display of hours for places that close after midnight. Previously the next day’s hours were being shown. • Fixed closing time calculation for places that close after midnight. Previously the wrong time was being calculated if it was currently before midnight (apparently midnight causes a lot of problems). • Fixed opening Google Maps directions (broke the link again, sorry). • Fixed retrieval of place information for places with diacritics (e.g. à, é, ö) in their name. • Improved the appearance and wording of error messages. • Improved some layout issues (especially on iPhone X). • Improved how the navigation bar gradients are made. • Increased font size on the About/Feedback screens to improve readability. • Repositioned the map buttons as they were sometimes interfering with the swiping card gesture. • Added missing attribution for the world map used in the app icon.

New Toolbar Design =============== • The first thing you’ll notice is that a few more buttons have appeared on the bottom toolbar. • A new “Bookmarks” button has been added (more on this below). • The visited categories bar graph has been moved out of the Details screen and added to the main page. • The Details icon has been replaced with a more visually appealing one. Bookmarks ======== • You can now “Favorite” or “Block” suggested places. • Tap the Bookmark icon on the place’s image to select Favorite or Block. • Favoriting a place causes those places to appear first in your results. • Blocking a place causes the place to never be seen again. • Bookmarks can be viewed and managed by tapping the Bookmarks icon on the new toolbar at the bottom. • From the Bookmarks screen, you can swipe on each place to remove them, or visit their Yelp page. Fixes and Improvements ================== • Improved appearance and reliability of place hours. • Increased number of displayed results to 20. • Minor UI improvements. • Fixed tapping on the minimized card view when no place is displayed. • Fixed closing time calculation (it turns out there are 60 minutes in an hour, not 100). More bug fixes and improvements: • Added support for Smart Invert Colors. If you use Smart Invert Colors on iOS 11 (Settings App > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations > Invert Colors), FoodEase will prevent certain interface elements from inverting colors (like images) so that they look better. This setting converts the app’s interface into a usable “dark” mode, try it out! • Improved haptic feedback on thumbs up/down buttons to feel more natural (iPhone 7, 7+, 8, 8+, X only). • Fixed opening directions in Google Maps. • Fixed the font in the map color settings to match the rest of the app. • Fixed the tap target on the minimized suggestion view. (Previously, when the map was visible, tapping just above the information view caused the suggestion screen to swipe up. This occasionally interfered with tapping on the bottom map button.)

More fixes and improvements: • Changed the color of the map buttons to match the main app UI (very subtle difference). • Fixed the way the descriptive footers in the settings screens were behaving. • Fixed a rare crash that sometimes occurred when the map route was being drawn. • Added support for iPhone X. Some quick fixes to resolve bugs that were introduced in the last update: • Fixed animation issue when moving between the Details and All Categories screens. • Brought back the icons in the Time of Day Range settings screen.

Introducing the first major update to FoodEase! This version brings the following features: Today Widget and Quick Actions ======================== • A widget that shows your last suggested place has been added. • To see the widget, 3D Touch on the app icon or add it to the Today area (swipe all the way left on your device’s Home screen, scroll down and tap “Edit”). • A new quick action menu has been added, view it by 3D Touching the app icon (appears along with the widget). • The quick actions allow you to quickly call the suggested place or navigate to it using your desired navigation app. Extra Place Information ================= • More information has been added to the Details screen. • You can now view the suggested place’s address and the hours of operation for the current day. • Tapping on the address gives you the option to open the directions in an external navigation app. Minor Improvements =============== • When you have arrived at the suggested location, the distance label now shows an “Arrived!” message, instead of the tiny distance and time that’s left. • Some small, behind-the-scenes changes and cleanup that will allow me to more efficiently add new features.
