Conjugar 3.0 is a rebuild. Every screen is new, the conjugation engine underneath is new, and the app now conjugates more than twenty times as many verbs as it did before. A NEW CONJUGATION ENGINE Conjugar now conjugates 4,811 verbs, up from about 200, in all 20 conjugated tenses. Browse or search the whole list, sorted by frequency or alphabetically. MODELS A new Models tab sorts the language into 102 conjugation models. Open one to see its pattern, its model verb, and every verb that follows it. WHERE THE WORDS CAME FROM Verb screens now include etymologies for more than 1,300 verbs, an example sentence for more than 1,300 verbs, each with an English translation, and more than 2,100 quotations from medieval Spanish texts, including the Poema de mio Cid and the Libro de buen amor. CONJUGATION TUTOR Ask a Spanish conjugation tutor how a tense works or how a verb is conjugated. It runs entirely on your device, and its answers are grounded in Conjugar's own conjugation engine. Nothing you type leaves your iPhone or iPad. Requires a device with Apple Intelligence enabled. WIDGETS AND CONTROLS Verb of the Day on the Home Screen and the Lock Screen. A Daily Quiz widget you can answer without opening the app. Control Center buttons for a quick quiz or a random verb. A Live Activity that follows a quiz in progress. TOREO POR AMOR Conjugar now hosts an arcade game: a five-stage climb through a Spanish festival, ending in a flamenco dance-off with a bull. BUILT FOR iPAD Conjugar is a native iPad app for the first time, with layouts made for the larger screen, rather than an iPhone app shown in a box. REDESIGNED Every screen was rebuilt in SwiftUI. Conjugar now supports Dark Mode, Dynamic Type, and VoiceOver, and offers four app icons to choose from. A welcome tour introduces the app on first launch and can be replayed from Settings. QUIZ Quizzes are now 30 questions rather than 50, a length people actually finish, and the three difficulty levels were rebalanced around it. Scores are scaled to the old 50-question range, so your existing Game Center leaderboard entries remain comparable. ARTICLES A new article traces the history of the Spanish verb system from Latin to today, the Purpose and Use article was rewritten, and the article list can be filtered by difficulty. SPANISH Everything new in this release is fully localized in Spanish, including the verb history, the etymologies, the medieval quotations, the tutor, the game, and the widgets. Conjugar 3.0 requires iOS 26.

If you are only interested in user-facing changes in a new version of Conjugar, stop reading now. This version fixes deprecation warnings and adds new device model names for the purpose of analytics.

I can now communicate with you, the Conjugar user, in an ad-hoc manner, for example about a new version of the app. If there is a live communication in the cloud, Conjugar shows the communication one time on startup.

Based on user feedback, I added a button to allow quitting a quiz in progress. Please don't use it!

I corrected the conjugation of llegar.

Conjugar was originally intended for English speakers, and most of the text in the app, for example the descriptions of verb tenses, was in English only until recently. But analytics revealed that some users were using the app with Spanish as their iPhone language. The developer of Conjugar therefore translated _all_ English text in the app to Spanish so that Spanish speakers can more easily benefit from the app.

This version has three exciting new verbs: acordar, recordar, and cenar. The settings screen now uses SwiftUI rather than UIKit. What are those, you ask? UIKit is a technology (or "framework") for creating using interfaces on iOS devices. UIKit descends from the MacOS framework AppKit, which Steve Jobs brought to Apple with the NeXTSTEP operating system. Until now, all my apps, including Conjugar, have used UIKit for their user interfaces. But in June, 2019, Apple released SwiftUI as the potential successor to AppKit and UIKit. Fortunately, developers can use both UIKit and SwiftUI in the same app, as I did for Conjugar.

This version has improvements for iOS 13.

This version add six exciting new verbs: amar, lavar, limpiar, quedar, regresar, and usar. New to Conjugar, not to the Spanish language. I lack that level of influence.

This version adds eight exciting new verbs: amanecer, anochecer, cazar, granizar, helar, nevar, relampaguear, and tronar. Longer verbs like relampaguear and reconocer now fit better on narrower screens.

Added three exciting new verbs: declarar, elegir, and colegir. Fixed two bugs: one that caused certain long verb tenses to get cut off during quizzes on iPhone SE, and one that prevented vos conjugations from being quizzed. Conjugar now displays and quizzes conjugations for the vos pronoun. These conjugations are useful in certain Latin American countries, including Argentina, Chile, and Colombia. Tap the Settings tab to activate these conjugations. Tap Voseo on the Info tab to learn more about the vos pronoun and its conjugations.
