Accio Patent 2.0 is all new: read patents a column at a time, tap a part number to see its figure, and copy any passage with its column and line citation.
Accio Patent fetches patents and makes them easy to read on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Scan the barcode on a printed patent, dial its number, or paste from the clipboard, and the original document comes straight from the patent office.
Getting Patents
Use your iPhone or iPad camera to scan the barcode or QR code on a patent’s front page, or dial the number on a keypad, and you’ll see a preview of the patent before you fetch it. Open an image or file, and Accio Patent finds the patent numbers in it. Accio Patent fetches documents directly from the USPTO and the European Patent Office, whose collection covers patents from around the world.
Reading Patent PDFs
Accio Patent intelligently splits patents so you can read them one column at a time, even on an iPhone, with selected text, highlights, and notes going exactly where you expect them to go. Tap a figure or part number, and a popup shows the figure, with the part you tapped highlighted. A smart navigation bar lets you quickly jump to any column and line, paragraph, figure, or claim.
Smart Patent Text
Flip to full text view and back whenever you want. Text view retains column and line numbers so you can copy with citations. Highlight in the text, and it syncs to the PDF, and vice versa. Read patents in other languages in English, translated on your device. Certificates of Correction are shown directly in the text. And this isn’t basic OCR—Accio Patent features a highly optimized patent reader to parse nearly any modern patent accurately, and many older ones too.
Storing and Sharing
Every patent you fetch stays in your Library, syncs through your own iCloud, and opens without a connection. Tag, archive, and search your patents, including their text. Copy any passage with its citation, down to the column and line or paragraph numbers. Share or export the PDF including your highlights and notes, or share a page of just your highlights with citations and snippets from the PDF.
Privacy
Accio Patent has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. Patent numbers go from your device straight to the patent offices, and camera images never leave your device.
Accio Patent Premium
Accio Patent includes a few sample patents to try out all the features. Plus, your first 10 patent fetches are free, with everything included. To fetch more, subscribe to Accio Patent Premium, a yearly subscription. Patents you’ve already fetched stay yours to read either way.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless it’s canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before that. You can manage and cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings.
