Editing photos doesn’t have to require laborious tinkering; Afterlight transforms them in an instant. It delivers powerful tools for adjusting exposure, contrast, saturation, and sharpness—while also offering RAW image support and dozens of filters, dust effects, and light leaks.
Wide selection of tools
This is bull ****
I love the wide selection of of tools and filters that are made available. One of my favorites is the selective saturation. What I like about this app that others don’t do is that when you make a change. For example, slide the sharpen button up to 100 (the max) it will save the change as kind of a new image and put the slider back to zero but keep the changes. This lets you go beyond the limits of the slider by just putting it to the maximum multiple timesI only gave it 4 stars because it does not truly support RAW editing. I mean, sure you can upload a RAW file but it will just turn it into a JPEG and let you edit from there. I would like this app to be able to take advantage of all the data stored in the RAW files so that we can make adjustments without having as much noise or distortion. I know this takes lots of processing power but I believe newer phone like the iPhone 10 and 8 have what it takes. I understand that this would be difficult and most people probably won’t use this feature but I would happily pay another $20 for this feature if it was made as an add on (just please don’t make it a subscription). I would like to see a burning and dodging tool as well (darkening and brightening in specific areas). Also can you add a layers system (kind of like photoshop) that way when we want to get rid of a change we don’t have to get rid of all the changes that came after it?Thank you for your time. I hope you take these thoughts into consideration for the future.
The same longstanding problems

I’ve had Afterlight forever, but it needs improvement. I use the filters less than other things but when I do, I'm reasonably satisfied. I use touch editing constantly because it's a relatively straightforward way to fix isolated too-dark or too-bright areas. I use the gradations in bursts. Dust, textures, and sometimes light leaks work well with images that look good with gradations. Now for the problems: The frames are great, but I don't understand why there isn't a color picker. Text and stickers have the same shortcomings but there’s a bigger problem - there have been NO new stickers since the app was released. Why? The UI is better than most and I’m a fan of the tasteful flowers, butterflies, and other nature-based images but I'd like to see some new ones. I’m glad you added background textures but the options are limited. I just noticed that there’s a double exposure feature now but I've only tried it once with simple photos. I wasn't crazy about not being able to adjust the second photo once I'd dropped it on the first. I used to use Afterlight to add text and annotations but have been using Markup instead. Sure, it's limited but it works well for basic fonts. When I wanted a bit more font choice I remembered the 2 areas that need improvement. One is the lack of color picker and the other is the strange way to adjust font size. It was manageable when I used it regularly but I was frustrated with it since I’ve been using Markup which is uncomplicated. I eventually gave up on the text placement after too much frustration.

I just downloaded the app. I gave it a 4 because I haven’t used it enough for a 5. But so far it’s been very intuitive, easy, fast, and very effective! I’ve tried 3 photos so far and each time I go back into the app I discover more cool tools and filters. Love the overlays very cool. I’ve been working on a friend’s favorite photo of her and her husband. It’s an older one so it’s a picture of the photo. Those are tough! But I was able to pull some color out and add where it needed to go. Example; they had black pants and shirts but in editing before I got this app I couldn’t get the blue out. But afterlight pulled the blue right out easily! Then I just pulled the black back in quick and easy! Yeah! The other thing was they had been in the sun with sunglasses that day so they had tan faces but with the white raccoon eyes! I hadn’t been able to get their skin color to even out. With afterlight 2 it faded right away! Beautiful! So thank you to the Afterlight 2 developer and team! I don’t mind paying for an app when it works and especially thank you for not having to have a subscription! Or a monthly charge! Last but not least I’m very happy that you don’t have to pay more to unlock each filter pack to get the good ones! I love it and I a have used a lot of photo editing apps! Haven’t used the camera yet. But after I do and get some more time in to become more familiar with all the tools, effects, lighting, and filters I will write another review and I have high hope to give it a 5! Thanks for the cool app and attention to detail but keeping it simple! Pam King
