Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly. The yearly plan starts with a 3-day free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase (after the trial, if you start one). The subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel it in your App Store account settings.
