I have a Red Sea 650 Peninsula, all Apex controlled. The only reason why I use the ReefBeat app is to control the Reefmat what replaced my horrible Coralvue rollers. To be quite frank, if Neptune systems came out with a roller to compete with Red Sea, I probably would have bought it, because I like the atmosphere of Apex Control. What I have found is that the Reefmat is currently the best roller in the market, hands down. The app does help me monitor usage and if it gets stuck. I had connectivity issues when setting it up, but it did eventually connect to my network. I chocked that up to having a dual band mesh network, while I’m sure that the Reefmat only accepts 2.4ghz, like almost all smart home devices. The only issues that I have with the app so far have been that I have yet to receive an actual notification about the mat becoming jammed, or there being a software update available for it. It will show up within the app, but I have never received a push notification on my iPhone 13. Also, I only state that I would like notifications about updates because the Reefmat has received around 4 since I purchased mine in May. I always want it to be up to date, so I would like to get notified when an update is available. For the developers: - Work on notifications, Top priority- Work on connectivity issues, or provide more information about errors when they occurAll in all, I’ll update this review when the issues have been solved!

Every adjective you can think of to describe how good the red sea products look and functionality of the product; however want it comes to technical support and customer service its the worst. You can’t get anyone on the phone, and when you to get tech support via email, the crap they want to verify to send a email ( name, phone# where you bought it, what date you bought it, time, date just send email, why stop there, ask for your social Security, passport, mothers, maiden name, and two photo ID, I bought a Red Sea 170 g2, it came with ATO, later on it bought a Red Sea filter mat, downloaded the app, every time you want to the app, you have to setting, to Wi-Fi and select product, and you for every product, even though both products are on the app, you see both products at the time, but access without getting out app and go to Wi-Fi and select the other product,

I’ll start by saying I really like the look of the light this unit puts out and the physical design, which is why I am going to the trouble of writing out a long review of my grievances with the app. I want to use this light, please spend the time to make this app more useful. The ReefBeat app is just poorly designed, plain and simple. -The navigation is confusing, why do I need to click through so many screens to get from current schedule to device manager to manual mode, etc. this should all be consolidated into one landing page where everything is easily accessible. Navigating via three small dots at the top right does not make sense to me.-Why can’t I simply drag and drop the points on a lighting schedule via touch? It is very inefficient to have to click into each point on my lighting schedule to individually modify the time and intensity. Also why do I have to manually delete the percentage upon selection -just clear the current percentage when I select it to to edit. This could be greatly improved, look at the AI Nero 5 app or Google home nest app for inspiration here.-I had a bunch of trouble getting the app connected to my home network, I spent 45 minutes dealing with error messages and timeouts before I was able to pair it to my home network. Also, once it is connected to a network you cannot simply change to another WiFi network, the whole device has to be deleted from the app and reset.Hoping this app can be reworked and made better because I really like the light itself.

I can sum up this app in just a few words. “Puerile slop with a nice cover…”Set up a new account, prepare for password requirements to fail over and over. Minimum of 8 characters, 1 number and one special character. Yeah I spent about 15 minutes on this before it finally let me through. The best method is your words with capital letter, special character and then numbers in that order exactly. After WiFi connectivity is set up, prepare for scheduling, yourself only with the apps scheduling and wasting loads of time. Scheduling here is more like an after thought. The entire scheduling sequence, needs to be redesigned. It will allow you to create custom programs. But even when you set up sunrise and sunset times, it refuses to let me enter the time slot times between them. My Aqueon smart light and its BlueIQ user interface and its functionality, is light years ahead of this. Scheduling is a breeze, and you have full control of all aspects of the lights behavior. It may be that their non lighting products work better in the app. I would not count on it. Looks like the companies reputation for junk software was dead on. I cannot overstate this enough. A fundamentally bad user experience awaits you. I DO not know how it is possible that the developers behind this app thought it was ready for release. I’m an avid user of PixInsight, a high level image processing app for processing astronomical data. It has a high learning curve, and takes time to master. It relies heavily on scripting. I also do coding with windows apps. I can tell you, this app, was created using the laziest way possible. Emphasis on good looks, poor testing for functionality and bugs.
