I’ve compared Peech to 5 of the other top text-to-voice apps. My primary use is listening to articles on news web sites (such as NYT, Washington Post, etc). As a whole, it works the best for me. First, while there is only one voice available, it is as good or better than all the other voices I’ve used in the other apps. It’s natural sounding and clear. More importantly, the speaker does not pause or stop in the middle of an article as it does in most all of the other apps. It also doesn’t drain your battery or make your phone hot as it does in other apps with longer articles. My biggest complaint is that it doesn’t work with the Washington Post, though converting the article to a PDF and loading the PDF does work. Finally, it would be nice if there was more control of the ordering of library items and if you could toggle on/off whether the app automatically reads the next article in the list. But overall, highly recommended.

Simple change could fix
Mattstar69
1 simple change would fix this ****shoe app. Let user pic the make or female voice or make it clear how to choose. When you’re selecting the voices it plays first the male voice till there’s a a new line or paragraph then switches to the female. However when I select while the male voice reads the female stars the next paragraph and remains never switching back. So I tried selecting while the female read and hoping it would switch to the male at the next paragraph. Nope remained her so I try another accent and again same thing make starts and they trade off till you actually select then the female takes over. Why? Why include a male sounding voice if you won’t let a user use it. Sorry seems petty but I liked how realistic the voices sounded but when I wanted to listen to a book being told from a man’s perspective having it read in a female voice look me out of the story as it would’ve had it been a story told from a female perspective told with a male sounding voice. Even simple screen reader lets you pick which voice you wish to hear from. Also my screen reader doesn’t work now and I’ll delete this app to see if it’s to blame. Can’t use 7 day trial when I can’t use the app in the manner in which I wanted it for. To read in a realistic voice a book that didn’t have an audio book to listen to. And awesome even if they read this and update it I’ll still not be able to test before I purchase since I’ve wasted my free trial and app is too expensive to purchase without putting it through its paces. I just don’t get why something so simple is not in the settings. So yeah 1 Star for a reason.

Hi! Hmm actually this feedback makes sense - thanks for that! Some of our popular presets are indeed multi voice. However others contain just 1 voice. We will think on how to handle it better and less confusing!
Don’t love the new update
delaguilicious
The app suddenly changed voices in the middle of a document I was listening to. Now it seems to try to change voices depending on the gender of whoever is speaking? However, it gets it wrong a lot of the time and it’s distracting. I wish I knew this change was coming and had the option to switch back to the old voice, as this one doesn’t even work properly. There isn’t any way to report an issue in the app (at least I couldn’t find it) so don’t know what to do other than leave a review. Other than this new update, I do love the app… hopefully it’s resolved soon.UPDATE: The app is now also playing music too?? Not at all what I would want hahaha. The changing voices is extremely distracting, even when they’re the “right” gender. Bummed I paid for this.

Keep getting this message something went wrong try again to complete. I tried a bunch of things reinstalled the app tried to sign in with different accounts google and apple id and still keep geeting this error.———Update: because the person who writes the replys to this app is so funny I started reading more reviews until I found a suggestion to try and manage the subscription not from app but from apple subscription sertings. I was able to turn it on. I suspect thats because I had a previous subscription like half a year ago. But guys I dont think people who will come back will know that they need to actually activate the subscription from apple settings. I think there should be a technical way to do it from your side or at very least write a note at the bottom of error message. I spent 2 hours trying to figure. 4 stars for now until you will bring more voice options. Have a wonderful day you lovely person :)
