“This was an amazing way to walk the Freedom Trail!!! The tracking through the GPS was spot on and it was having all the information provided on all the points!!!”
“I did not know a lot about the American revolutionary war and without overwhelming me, it brought the events of the time to life for me”
"The freedom trail tour was great. Wife and I shared a pair of wireless earbuds which I recommend. The tour is broken into many small sections which automatically stayed as we walked to the next point on the trail. It all worked perfectly, was extremely easy to use and very informative.

I was coming up on the end of my trip to Boston and had booked so many group activities (whale watching, day trip to Martha’s Vineyard, etc - all highly recommended) and yet still felt I hadn’t soaked up enough history in Boston, itself. This app was recommended just as I was about to book a bus tour, which I was just feeling wouldn’t have been intimate/involved enough and it was just perfect! It was about a 2-3 mile narrated tour of the freedom trail plus some extra historic sites, I learned SO much, got some good exercise in, and got to see all the sites up close and personal for a fraction of what any other city tour would’ve cost! I would highly recommend this app. The one thing I will say, (which does not take away from my 5 star rating at all) is that the map isn’t as “smart” as your google maps app. I often used google maps as a supplement/ to navigate. Other than that, this was perfection!

First time in Boston. My wife and I split a pair of WIRELESS earbuds. I put in the left ear. She used the right ear. Geo triggers worked perfectly. You can repeat the audio if you miss something. What we liked over using the app more than a tour group type was that we could do our own pace. At one point we found ourselves next to the Sam Adams tasting room, so we had a beer and pretzel. Much later in little Italy we saw a charming bakery down a tight alley. We found a bench and had a coffee and pastry before returning to the Freedom Trail. We lingered for a long time in a cemetery moved by the names we recognized. You can even do half of it and come back another day to do the rest of it. This app is Freedom on the Freedom Trail.

We loved doing the self-guided walking tour of the Freedom Trail. It was the perfect way to explore Boston’s historic sites without feeling rushed by a large group. The self-guided map was very easy to follow, taking us through all the major Revolutionary War landmarks like the Paul Revere House and the USS Constitution. Being able to stop for photos whenever we wanted made it a much better experience than a formal tour. If you're looking for an affordable Boston tour that hits all the Freedom Trail highlights, definitely go the self-guided route!
I think you can skip this app for now

I found the narrator’s voice to be pleasant, but the info in the tells you way less than you can learn at any of the given sights. The navigation was unhelpful as it doesn’t give you exact points — for instance, I had to ask a local where to actually pick up the trail— and once you’re on the trail you can and should really just follow the path that’s been laid. That’s half the fun! Tying to use/navigate the app kept me with my face in my phone for way longer than I wanted to be given the fact that I was trying to sightsee. And the info was frustrating somethings in its brevity—for instance, at the Granary Burial site it tells you that Hancock is buried there, but not where. In Maui, we used a terrific app that used your GPS location to automatically tell you about what you were seeing as you walked or drove. I wish this app could have done that. It required me to do way too much and offered much less than a simple guidebook would have.

Thanks for letting us know the issues you faced. From this review, it sounds like the GPS functionality was turned off. Could you contact us with more info? support@actiondatasystems.com. For more content, you can access “Learn Mores” on many stops. This allows you to flexibly choose what you want to hear. Our info intentionally doesn’t duplicate info on plaques on the route, which seemed redundant (ex. the Granary has excellent onsite maps and plaques for the various graves). However, we’ll certainly take this opinion into consideration for the next update!
Enjoy a smoother, more reliable experience—effortless guidance throughout the iconic red brick walk.
