PetScanner is built to support both pet keepers and professionals, including vets, rescues and local authorities, we combine registration and scanning in one system. This helps reduce delays in identifying pets and increases the likelihood of a safe and quick reunion.
As a DEFRA-compliant microchip database, we allow keepers to securely register their pet’s microchip details for a small fee. Registration includes unlimited contact detail updates for life and optional subscription benefits giving you exclusive perks on top of your DEFRA registration.
Alongside registration, the PetScanner app pairs with the PetScanner smart microchip scanner to provide fast and effective identification of microchipped animals. The scanner reads FDX-B (15-digit) microchips in dogs, cats and other animals, instantly displaying the unique microchip number within the app. Please note, a PetScanner smart microchip scanner is required to scan your pet – you cannot scan the microchip with your smartphone alone.
When a pet is scanned, PetScanner guides you through the next steps based on the microchip’s registration status. If the microchip is registered with PetScanner, the keeper’s contact details will be displayed, making it easy to get in touch. If the microchip is registered with another database, PetScanner will identify the relevant database and provide the appropriate contact information. If no registration is found, the chip number is still shown, allowing the pet to be identified and registered if needed.

So when you first open the app you have to register with your name, address, phone number, email, and create a password. Of course it’s one of those apps that only allows you to use google to register through safari, so if you disabled that pop up no protection garbage like I did you have to register the old fashioned way. Strike 1. Next when the app is done registration it says your pets show here if you want to scan a pet buy one of the cheapest pet scanners on the store...um the app description says pet scanning is the free part of this app. I downloaded it because it said IT is a pet scanner. Strike 2. So I closed the app to recheck the app description in the store to verify it said what I thought. Then tried to reopen app to see if I could have pressed another button to scan without buying a scanner tool, and low and behold the app wouldn’t open. It acted like it was going to then poof...back to main phone screen. Strike 3 Your out garbage app!
Scam

Not even worth 1 star. I was duped into thinking this was a pet scanner for my iPhone and low and behold it isn’t. It requires you buy a scanner that can connect to your phone like any other external device. This not a scanner app at all. It also requires you to enter your pet’s info for an added which means they want you to register a chip that is not theirs so they are stealing from legit microchip companies as the chip does not belong to their registry which is unknown and not searched. This is a me too wannabe company that has no purpose whatsoever and should not try to play in the pet microchip space. Total fraud. Garbage.
Trash app

Doesn’t work without a scanner tool connect via Bluetooth!! Makes you register to even find this out wish I read the reviews first! Apple shouldn’t let this kinda trash on their App Store!
Absolute Garbage

The app doesn’t do anything but make you register your address, email, phone number etc. doesn’t allow you to freely scan a pet like it says.
This is a bug fix release, which fixes the shop page on the main menu.
