I was EXTREMELY skeptical when I first downloaded this app. I created my profile and started looking through my feed of people that were being recommended to me. I thought “this has to be riddled with scammers and catfish”. After a few swipes I got a notice that I needed to complete a facial scan so the Bumpy team could verify that I was the person in the photos that I uploaded. I completed the scan and realized that if everyone is required to complete the verification, they have essentially prevented the ability for people to come on and use other peoples photos to scam you. It’s absolutely ingenious. The app does have a subscription but it’s not totally necessary to yield high results. I do not have the subscription, however after spending a few days on the app I am genuinely interested in getting it. There is a very cool map feature so you can search by country for other people. If you are on the fence, give it a try! I love Bumpy! I have even convinced a few of my friends to download it and they really like it!

After seeing that, I had 238 likes, I paid 13 to see them. There were 200 from other countries 38 from the US. Of those 38, only 15 were photo verified. The rest where scammers. Of the 200, almost all of them were from Africa in the Middle East. Photos were not verified. To test it out, I engaged in conversation with 20 of them. All 20 eventually try to get money out of me. And presumably a green card. If this is your thing ladies, have at. But there are literally no safeguards in place.. These men prey on women, hoping to get money out of them. It is full of scammers and liars. I did not find one match out of all 238. I legitimately hate this app and I want my money back. More importantly, there needs to be safeguards. You can choose if you want your search to be worldwide, but you cannot choose to only receive matches from the United States. So even if your filter is set to the US, you still have to wade through men from other countries who chose your profile. They are also isn’t a way to mass delete. I had to go through every single one individually and hit the X. I will be contacting customer service in the morning to see if I can get my money back. Like for real and getting rid of the app do yourself a favor and do not download unless you want to be scammed by foreign men.

I actually really enjoy this app. I have always been someone who dates outside their race and having traveled to multiple countries, I am certainly open to dating internationally. This is one of the few apps that creates an open space for likeminded people to meet. As wonderful as this is, Bumpy could use some small changes that will make BIG differences in how often I recommend the app to others. First of all, there are no preference filters outside of age. As someone who takes their faith seriously, I deeply prefer an app that lets me filter out non-religious people so we don’t waste anyone’s time. It also helps to filter out folks with/without children—whatever suits you—but that filter isn’t there…. All you can do is set your age and if you’re interested in men or women. That’s it. For an app that connects people across the WORLD, you would think it would have the most filters possible because there are so many different cultures, languages, religions, etc. but nope. Other than that, I would love to give this a higher rating and refer all my friends but in this state, Bumpy almost feels like an app that isn’t finished yet. Hopefully it will get better in the future but I don’t plan to be there long, haha!

This is probably my favorite dating app I’ve used. It’s very refreshing. It’s transparent with how many likes you have left, and it doesn’t absolutely shove the premium down your throat. Obviously they advertise it but that’s where the money comes from so they have to. I’ve had more quality conversations on this app in the month that I’ve had it then in multiple years using any app made by the Match group (Okc, tinder, bumble, and the others that match group owns). I did get banned one time, but I contacted customer support and within 3 hours a real person looked at my account and saw the ban was not right, so they unbanned me. 3 hours!! Insanely good timing if you’ve ever tried to get into contact with customer service in any other app like this. If you’ve got traveling in your future or you’re looking for someone to practice a new language you’re learning with, this app is great to meet new people around the world. Highly recommend !
