I don’t mind paying for something I like, especially if it’s only 99 cents. What I do mind is being lied to to increase sales. If it’s 99 cents to use this app, then just say so up front. Don’t lead users on and make them believe it’s a free app when it’s not. It was annoying how the app suddenly asked me to pay after about 5 scans without a heads up. The description doesn’t even say “in app purchases.” I really feel like the developers did this in order to coax users into buying. Not me. For that reason, I deleted the app regardless of how much I liked it. Please be up front and courteous to your users.UPDATE: After reading the developer’s response, I went back and downloaded the app to give it another try. I was honestly quick to judge...what I thought was a prompt to get me to buy a full version of the app, turned out to be just a prompt to either buy the ad-free version or watch a short ad. I’m not sure how I overlooked that (maybe I had a long day and I was tired). Sorry for the brash review. I think so many apps operate that way that I got used to it. Thanks for such a great app. Like I said, I don’t mind paying for an awesome app, especially if it’s only 99 cents, but the fact that we have the option to buy the ad-free version is great. That being said, this app is very informative and helpful! I’m trying to switch to a healthier lifestyle and with that comes the use of cleaner products. I’ve been using this app nonstop since discovering it. Thanks to the team of scientists who developed this app. Wish you guys happy holidays!! ♥️

Hello, first of all, it is clearly stated in the App Store that this app contains in-app purchases. Second, no-one forces you to use this app. We don't charge you - we only ask you to watch an ad so that you can continue using this app for free. Third, how do you expect this app to survive without making any money? This is a really huge effort with extremely little money from a team of scientists (which you call "developers" here), striving to protect consumers. Please think about it and re-consider your rating because this is no reason for 1 star. Thank you. Really nice app, love the user friendly interface and sleek design. Only found one minor bug, whenever I go back to the home page I am asked to give camera and photo library permissions even when I’ve made my choice already

I will compliment how well made this app is, however my guess is, that’s due to corporate sponsors because it does a horrible job of achieving its goal. I took a picture of the ingredients label of the worst possible food item I could find, a tostino’s pizza, and it rated it as green/not a threat. If you are going to rate a pizza with 100 preservatives all of which are a detriment to your health, what good is this app? What does it accomplish? It doesn’t even tell you why the ingredients are bad. 0 out of 5 stars.
