Rogue with the Dead is an original roguelike RPG where you command and power up troops on an endless, looping journey.
What kills you makes you stronger.
An innovative game from room6, the team that has brought you such successes as Unreal Life and Gen’ei AP.
◆Defeat the Demon Lord
Your mission is to lead an envoy of soldiers for 300 miles, in order to defeat the Demon Lord at the end.
Completing quests and killing monsters will earn you coins that you can use to make your troops stronger.
They fight automatically, and you can choose to either wait and watch them have at it or join the battle yourself.
Soldiers respawn after they’re killed, but you don’t. You’ll lose all soldiers, money, and items, except for artifacts, and you’ll have to start over.
To stand a chance against the powerful bosses impeding your progress, you’ll need to collect as many artifacts as you can. Defeating them, in turn, will grant you more artifacts.
◆Many different playstyles
・Power up soldiers, defeat monsters, and clear dungeons
・An endless loop of dungeons
・Hire healers, summoners, magicians, and more to fight for you
・Focus on knights for close-range attacks or upgrade your wizards to crush enemies long-range? The choice is yours

・Power up quests to earn more coins automatically in idle mode
・No annoying controls required as most of the game can be played while idling
・Find even stronger soldiers to defeat tough bosses

Little by little, you’ll find out about what happened before your arrival, and Elly might know more than she lets on...
◆Watch the numbers grow
At first, you’ll deal 10 or 100 points of damage. As you progress with the upgrades, the numbers will grow in the millions, billions, trillions... Enjoy the exponential growth of your power.
◆A varied roster of soldiers
Swordsman
A basic warrior unit with high health who fights on the front line to protect other soldiers.
Ranger
An archer that can attack from afar. However, it is slower and has less health than warriors.
Pigmy
A tiny warrior with low health and weak attack, but very fast movement. It can quickly sneak close to enemies to attack them directly.
Sorcerer
A magician that deals high damage to enemies within an area. However, it is slow and rather fragile.
...and many more.
◆Artifacts that power you up
・Increase attack by 50%
・Protect magicians from 1 attack

◆If you’re tired, just idle
If you want to take a break, just close the game. Quests will still continue even while you’re not playing the game. When you come back, you’ll have more coins to power up your soldiers and defeat that boss that has been giving you trouble.
You can play for a few minutes at a time, so it’s perfect to fill in those little pockets of time throughout the day.

I rarely write reviews, play mobile games and almost never enjoy rebirth mechanics, but this game manages to encapsulate me and handle rebirth in the best way I’ve ever seen, though that might be because I try to avoid mobile games. Instead of inching towards a slightly larger amount of progress that for a single unit more, you rebirth to get gems, which you can spend on various things. This game handles itself well in that you get a good amount of gems when you “rebirth” instead of a pittance, and the stuff you spend it on is actually very useful. The bonuses from artifacts are also generally pretty big consistently, so instead of getting a +50% attack for one artifact and just a +3 for the same one afterwards, you get a consistent plus 50 (most of the time). Also, I’ve never seen an idle game ost go so hard, it makes it so much more replay able. Add to the fact that ads are mostly optional, and you never see them unless you do it for a reward, and you have an overall great game. Kudos to the devs, my best regards to them.
Genuinely fun

If you like incremental games where each run gets you a little stronger, you’ll probably love this. It’s simple in a refreshing way, easy to learn, and offers a variety of automation and literally thousands of levels of artifacts to continue growing stronger over long-term play. The main game loop has occasional minor variations to keep things fresh without over complicating the gameplay, several bosses of increasing difficulty with “hard mode” variants that you can unlock spawns for later for more of a challenge, and several different units and unit types to support longer-term goals as you work towards unlocking the best of the best and learning which classes you prefer. Did I mention that there are no mandatory ads? Oh yeah. No mandatory ads. You watch what you want, when you want. It’s not flawless, but it’s still an absolutely solid 5/5 for me.
I want to love this game but….

It’s a good game for the some part. I like pixel art, and D&D, and side scrollers. But the ad’s SOOOO MANY AD’s. I know they should be compensated for their work. I’m ok with that. I would just buy it outright to support them I would pay $1-6 for this game but, $37!?!?!?! Are you kidding me?! Them don’t want you to buy it. They want to make you keep watching AD’s! I wouldn’t mind if it was one or two every once in a while. But no, they want you to watch one to two ads for every little thing. Sometimes you watch an ad to get a better soldier because you can’t just buy it out right for reasons. So you watch an ad and then you get a soldier that’s even more worthless than the one before. This is unacceptable. Which makes me sad. I can’t keep justifying playing this game making the money if they’re not going to compensate me for my time playing your game there’s plenty other games out there. Ones that I can buy for a reasonable price and then just enjoy the game. I do hope that the developers balanced this so that you could just play the game without watching ads. But as of right now, it simply takes far far too long of grinding to justify.

I’ve played this game for around a month, and I did enjoy it quite a bit. At first, I was annoyed by the large amount of adds, but money is tight right now so I didn’t bother looking at ad removal, and I still enjoyed the gameplay, so it didn’t affect things too much. However, recently I received a 24-hour ad removal for free, so I took advantage of it while I had the opportunity, and enjoyed the experience significantly more as I did so. Returning to the game and trying to play with ads, I now found the experience to be far to broken up and drawn out, and so I decided to see about ad removal, and if it was cheap, then I may as well show my support. To my surprise, the bundle for permanently removing ads is OVER $30 DOLLARS. For the type of game this is, that pricing is outrageous and incredibly greedy, I could buy a well polished indie game with significantly more replay value for that price. If the developer is reading this, I encourage you to rethink your decision, I never post reviews, but this was just too egregious for me to not say something. I’d recommend you change your one month ad removal to $0.99, and your unlimited ad removal to $4.99. I’m aware Apple keeps a portion of sales, and the extra money is probably enticing, and since you run so many ads I’m sure you make a decent amount off of those. But I can safely say that users would enjoy the game much more and that you would have much better player retention if you lower the price. You would still make good money, plenty of people aren’t willing to pay for ad removal so you’d still get good ad revenue, and significantly more people would be willing to buy your ad removal than there are right now, so you’d make much more money from that and likely boost your long term player base. Listen to me or don’t, but unless this changes, I can’t support that much greed.
